I should be quite safe then... I live at about 200 meters above MSL. <GRIN>

You may stay 'safe' from the rising waters...

Meanwhile, how safe will you be from the displaced people, extreme weather, and all the other ever more unsafe and expensive upheaval...

He has the second amendment ....

They will also have it.

Fresh water? Heh. Private well or two... Plus 2 major rivers (and a heck of a lot of lakes and creeks) in the immediate area. And 'stills' have a lot more uses than just makin' moonshine. Grow a lot of my own food too.

Truck load of ammo? <evil grin>

Not *all* the ammo... <evil grin> Rough guess... I would say that there is likely, in private hands, at least 100 million rounds of ammo just in this *county* (and there are 253 *other* counties in Texas).

Besides, I can make ammo.. not that hard. Even can (and have) cast the bullets. And I am far from the only one around here that can.

Nothing wrong with Having the equipment to make the ammo I just wouldn't keep to many made . And Licenced to own Guns

Raw materials to make and store is one thing ...having them already made dangerous .

When I say having the ammo made I'm talking more than 2 dozen or so up to 100's

The private civilians of Texas are better armed than the military of many nations.

'Off your places to visit'? Likely a wise choice.

This is what MIT says about Global warming now

What are the implications of the 478-ppm measurement to human life?

According to the paleoclimatological ice core record, if our planet warms more than 2 C globally (4 C at the poles), we are in trouble. That’s about 6 meters or 20 feet of sea level rise. Most of the world’s valuable infrastructure and high populations are along the coasts. So, the damage and cost of sea level rise alone is potentially very high. Other risky phenomena we face are shifting rainfall patterns that may move the locations of arable farmland out of the US and into Canada. Mexico could grow drier and drier, and there’s concern in the Department of Defense about potential challenges to the security at the southern US border. Other similarly vulnerable areas around the world could face desperate large-scale migrations of people seeking to find places to grow food.

These damages are likely to exceed significantly the costs associated with an efficient and fair GHG policy such as an emission tax whose revenues are used to offset income taxes.

The link to the page called "400 ppm CO2? Add Other GHGs, and It’s Equivalent to478 ppm "

There are many cities that will be flooded in the future.
London is already at high risk.
The Netherlands?
Louisiana US?
Manhattan New York?
Instead of cars in the streets there will be Vaporettos instead.
Forget subways.

The Netherlands lie below the sea level, dams are built to stop the water, so in case of a flood, they will be first to have a go here in Europe.

The very name Netherlands tells us what Holland is.
I have travelled across a dam there once.
It looked like this at the time.

But the height is only 7.25 metres (23.8 ft) above sea-level!
Well it could be fixed!

WP - June 11, 1986

30 years ago scientists warned Congress on global warming. What they said sounds eerily familiar

I don't know where Hansen was talking about in 1986 with his '12 days of >= 100F' temperatures by 'the middle of the next century'... But that sounds like a normal summer around here...

6 years BEFORE he said this, we had a heat wave down here in the Dallas Texas area. Summer of 1980.

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/community-news/dallas/headlines/20100806-Dallas-Fort-Worth-heat-wave-of-1868.ece

69 days that summer of high temperatures > 100F... 42 of them in a ROW (June 23rd to Aug. 3rd). Oh, and the relative humidity around here during the summer is usually around 70% to 75%. That is... HOT.

I still can't believe you had the stones to criticize our use of air conditioning in the other thread. It gets hot around here, with the usual humidity, people start DYING (especially the elderly and the very young) without it.

Now then, I am not denying Anthropogenic Climate Change (ACC) or even Greenhouse-gas induced ACC (GHG-ACC). But one must set priorities for energy use, and around here A.C. tends to be rather high on the list of priorities.

Or... do you want people to start dropping dead?

He does as that will reduce CO2 released.

Yes, I have...

But as Clyde says it is not really feasible. You are not going to get agreement from the people to 'do themselves in'.

Furthermore, as Clyde says, perhaps it would be a better use of various resources to quit trying to stop ACC and instead start working on adapting to it.

Isn't it just an artificial way to keep people alive who would have naturally died in early times before it was available and still do in countries where air conditioning isn't a common item.

Therefore, yes I do, critisise the excessive use of air conditioning in the US.

Please instead criticize the dolts in NYC who insist on a dress code in a glass tower in a desert of a dark suit and tie because that is the way it is done in NYC. Please also criticize the efficiency experts who have concluded that maximum profit comes at a temperature of 72 F for human workers.

While you are at it also criticize the obesity epidemic.

Then, if you are going to criticize that, then kindly start criticizing other things such as medical/health care... Oh, and agriculture...

After all, according to you we can't go on keeping people alive through artificial, technological means, now can we?
