I have a dual core amd laptop on Windows 7 and I just started to resume seti on it last night. I noticed this morning I was only doing 1 wu at a time, although 2 were showing to be running. I set my local preference to 50% cpu and I am still showing 100% cpu usage. I looked at the running processes and rundll32.exe is running at 48 - 50% cpu usage. Is this a sign of a virus or malware?

Make certain that it is located in C:\Windows\System32.

I agree with the previous poster - be sure it is the REAL MS code running.

About a year ago, I came across a Bitcoin miner that disguised itself as that module, check its location.

Edit: Oh, and it wasn't dangerous, it just sucks up your CPU time.

Finally got this figured out. Found out it had to do with CCleaner. I ended up using Process Explorer to get my answer. "Error opening process" and showed it was CCleaner calling for the process.
