It'll be a while before the SKA project produces anything for us, or anyone else, to process. Wow - I looked at the linked page. Looks like a great project, if you are a bureaucrat. Not so much if you want to get some science done. |

It'll be a while before the SKA project produces anything for us, or anyone else, to process. Forget the bureaucrats. You must understand the size and equipment required for this project, as well as the isolation of both sites (Africa and Australia). This project will take a lot of time before everything is in place and ready to go. Read the whole main website, http://www.skatelescope.org/, first before making off the hip judgements like that. ;-) Cheers. |

I understand that. But look at the record: just one example - after the World Trade Center in New York was destroyed, it took the public sector > 10 years to rebuild. A private 70 story building there was rebuilt in a year. Basically, bureaucracy doesn't have any real incentive to get things done. |

Basically, bureaucracy doesn't have any real incentive to get things done....unless there is something in it for them! |

Update on my Beta crunching: my i7 crunched through all the cuda32s and cuda42s (and a few cuda50s) it was sent, and got sent more 32s. Looking at the processing times, though, it seems to my amateur eye like the 42s were more efficient. Does the scheduler think differently than I do? (Probably...) Its getting winter here guys. My room is getting cold. My home heating system is set up and programmed taking heat from my PC's into account. I don't want to reconfigure air flow and the program....yet |

Results out in the field 989,850 This the lowest I can recall seeing MBs go. I shall crunch on. |

The boards are up, the server staus page shows we are down and yet I just reported 2 MBs and got rewarded with a resent AP V7. How odd. |

It isn't very odd for the Server Status to be behind following an outage. Given it only updates every 10, or sometimes 20-30, minutes. Currently [As of 25 Nov 2014, 22:30:05 UTC] Everything looks rather normal. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Some things don't seem right though, my RAC hasn't changed all day, despite no WU's being crunched. And there seems to be splitters working on Astropulse, but its creation rate is 0/sec? I still haven't had anything since Wed, but maybe soon....maybe ;-) P. |

The boards are up, the server staus page shows we are down and yet I just reported 2 MBs and got rewarded with a resent AP V7. How odd. I think they may have disabled or changed the built in degradation part of RAC. Normally it should drop at least once a week, but I have machines that have had their RAC flat for ~3 weeks. There is MB work being split, but no AP work. There are 9 complete AP channels on one tape, but those were done weeks ago. Not much happening, work in progress still steadily falling. http://setistats.haveland.com/ Might be a good idea to have a thorough cleanout before restart! |

What you can do is sign up for TheSkynet pogs. This is the test project for getting acquainted with distributed computing with data from the Pan-STARRS1 telescope. It is my backup project. Although they had for 3 years of data and they just added new galaxy's to process as they did run out a few days ago. BassieXP, ... am already on POGS (have been for a little time now). |

hey guys let's make Eric feel as if all the hard work he has been doing is appreciated Join Eric's fund raiser at Bitcoin shorely we can do it for a few days while the site is not working and beat the last fund raiser at $19 i think it was . And for those whom have used the excuse of , it's better to turn your machines off and save some cash . I WILL BE EXPECTING THAT ONCE THE SITE IS GOING YOU ARE ALL GOING TO SEND THAT MONEY YOU SAVED TO SETI AS A DONATION . That's right i'm calling you out on this . As i have troubble donating due to bank's i am going to do Eric's fund raiser till the site is up and maybe for a little longer to let it settle I will be looking at the server pages at bitcoin to see how many people have joined in , come on we can do better than 37 users doing cuda and 71 users doing cpu |

It's hardly an "excuse". It's the most sensible approach for all those without ASIC mining hardware and is likely to benefit the project far more than BU. My first installment (for 3 days of savings) can be found in Message 1602609. The next 7 days is covered here: Your gift details… You gave to: SETI@home We received your gift of $39.00 via ********* on 11/25/2014. Your confirmation number is 142482. ...we can do better than 37 users doing cuda and 71 users doing cpu That's preciously the kind of mining that is most likely to yield negative $$ for the project (vs. direct donations), unless the cruncher's electricity is really, really cheap. |

Hi Julie, Been doing backup projects here, so RAC is actually on the up.. But I'm gonna be offline for a bit upgrading my rig sometime today, so that will probably impact RAC as well as my temper:-) There's a watercooler blocking access to my cpu so that's got to be removed and then refitted to the new kit:-/ Anyway I've done the GPU tasks, and am doing 1 cpu task at a time, got a few short deadlines to get out of the way 1st. Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |

Arrghhhh. I forgot just how much I HATE Artic Silver:-( Darn stuff gets everywhere and is the very devil to get rid of. Still brand new CPU installed and running and back to crunching my 2 CPU tasks.. Who knows, with a wee bit of luck I might manage to snag a couple more:-) Regards, Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt! |
