I am installing a new GTX 750Ti on my old Q6600 later today is there anything I should do extra such as VLARs and number of cores crunching?

The Scheduler won't allocate VLARs to Nvidia GPUs, so that's not an issue. If you crunch AP work units then freeing up a CPU core will probably be necessary to help make full use of the card.
For MB the CUDA50 application is the one you want to run.

The only issues may be video driver related- I don't know what the current driver support for XP is with current hardware.
If there are no driver issues & everything is running well, others will be able to help you with config file settings to take better advantage of the GPU for AP work.

The GTX 750TI is fully supported under Windows XP with current NVidia drivers.

But WARNING: I had severe problems (resulting in an unusable Windows installation and a full reload) on one of my three similar machines when I ran the manufacturer's driver install CD. It was the machine, not the card or driver, because I installed an identical card model on the other machines with no problem.

The issue appears to have been a problem with the motherboard chipset drivers: it would be worth checking that those are up-to-date and upgrading if a newer version is available. Apart from that, I'm very please with the upgrade from 9800GT cards - four times the production at half the power consumption.

Thank you Richard and Grant for your input, GTX 750ti installed and working well, easier than I expected. I am keeping away from Astropulse 7 for the time being.
