What are we up to now, 10 days and still no fix ... just who is responsible for maintaining the machine and ensuring its operational integrity? |

just who is responsible for maintaining the machine and ensuring its operational integrity? A couple of part time members of the team, if you want to get more work out of them it would take money, since this project is self funded think donations |

If no more V6 APs come forth I will have to resort to MBs tomorrow. IMO that is not bad but APs are tastier to crunch. |

OK, based on my observations of my machines. I have a machine set to download v6 AP and v7 AP WUs (no to v7 MB WUs). I have another machine set to download v6 AP WUs and v7 MB Wus (no to v7 AP WUs). AP is up and being split, and has been for a while now. Neither of these machine are receiving v6 AP WUs. The only machine receiving AP WUs is the one requesting v7 AP WUs. The WUs are v7.05 as I am running Nvidia cards. This has been the case for a few hours now. Based on this I suspect that AP v6 is NO longer being distributed (apart from any clean up action that may arise). On a personal level, I don't think this bodes well for the circa 1 million credits I have locked up in v6 AP WUs being credited in the near future, but only time will tell. If you want AP WUs, I would suggest that you migrate (slowly) to v7. I have migrated 1 of my 4 boxes (GPU only at this stage) and am just waiting to see how it pans out with v7 before I progress any further. cheers Edit to post: Having said that above, I just received a v6 AP WU (6.01) for CPU. |

I don't think any NEW v6 will be split but there are plenty of old v6 out in the field. I've been getting a couple every day when the deadlines to report expire. So there will be stragglers for sometime until they are all done. I've been slowly getting some v7 also but I have to get threw these MBs first. Happy Crunching.... Zalster |

I know everyone's all excited about AstroPulse V7 and everything, but I'm wondering if I missed something. Not in News, or Technical News, or Staff Blog or anywhere can I find-out much of anything about AstroPulse v7, but I am still wondering if anyone's found the trouble with the v6 AstroPulse validator? I don't CARE if it takes a month to validate and "grant credit." I'm just *interested* in what's going-on with a project I've participated in pretty steadily for 15 years and that I support with $$$, electricity, hardware, time, and energy. Does anybody know anything interesting about the servers? This is a server-thread, right? |

tbret, up until a moment ago, the v6 AP validator was MIA with no formal announcement as to an estimated time for resurrection. The validator is listed as being UP at the moment but I have seen this before...up for a very short time and then down again for a very long time .... (lets hope we are through it). As to v7, no formal announcement but would suggest you check out the v7 AP thread. I have installed the GPU ap on 3 boxes so far and all appears to run smoothly. Only 1 more box to go and then I'll let it sit for a day before I start installing AP v7 for CPU. cheers |

I'm sure they'll get around to fixing it eventually, and since I have participated for so long I know the saying, "patience is not only a virtue, it is a requirement." I just wondered if anyone's heard what broke? |

The V6 validator might be marked as being up, but I can report it is down. Since V7 was introduced I have been sent and completed two V6 tasks, both created before the 26th, a _3 and a _4, neither has been validated. |

Ive got just a tad over 500 AP v6 that need to be validated. I will hold off on checking that V7 AP box for a bit. Something dosent feel right in the force.
Old James |

As I recall, when we made the change-over from MB Enhanced/v6 to v7 and AP v5 to v6, it took about 6 months to get most of the stragglers cleaned up - but there are STILL some MB Enhanced/v6 Work Units in validation limbo. One of these days, Eric & Co will get around to clearing them out..... But as always around here, patience is not just a virtue, it is a requirement..... Looks like the AP waiting to be validated has finally peaked. Grant Darwin NT |

Most of the v7 GPU WUs that have validated for me have been paired with a ati_mac GPU and the guts has been cut out of credits. Not sure if it is v7 or the ati_mac effect ... time will tell. cheers |

Im guessing that Ap on v7 will pay like MB on v7. The same. It wont pay anymore to run AP work only. Thats just my guess though.
Old James |
