My wife LSM was in a fabric shop once, and I remember seeing something like what is in that image. |

Hint: The diameter is far less important than the circumference. The circumference of the metal disc on the end of the shaft? Which would make it a revolution counter, which multiplied by the disc circumference would yield a distance traveled measurement. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Hint: The diameter is far less important than the circumference. Yes. The official tag is under the picture is: "RARE CRAFTSMAN ROLLING DISTANCE GAUGE". The pointy end is also important as it can be used to count turns on a spinning shaft. To use as a distance gauge you multiply the circumference of the washer by the turn count. It is designed to take custom washers of any size. BOINC WIKI |

So is Donald the winner? That's what John's PM said. Sorry, I got a little pre-occupied Wednesday and Thursday (happens sometimes when I have Funeral/Memorial services). Will have something up sometime Friday. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I'm having difficulty making time to even look for a new tool. (Note teh time-stamp on this post. It's after midnight local, I should have been in bed hours ago...) Anyone wants to post the next one and continue the game, go right ahead. Just don't everyone jump up at once....... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Wait, just let me oil myself all up before I answer this one. I am sure we will bore our way to some sort of idea of what this thing may be. |

Is it for handling the latest pipe to add to a drill stem? Alright I guess we have too many oil men around here. Yes it is a stem elevator. Used for lifting oil well pipe stems. PM Sent, John Got it. Ian just made an oily mess. |

I used to manage an oil supply warehouse years ago. If you wanted to put up a rig, we could handle everything you might need. Congratz John! |
