An interesting map of the Ukraine historical territories: History lessons:) Here is another one more contemporary! http://tottestidning.blogspot.se/2014/03/ukraina-tank-om-karl-xii-vunnit-i.html Many ukrainians remember Holodomor and can still talk about it. This is not from any concentration camp! It is Ukraine 1932-33! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor Here is some videos with ukrainians in Gammelsvenskby near river Dnepr and Crimea. They still keep speaking Swedish and some of them remember Holodomor very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB5w5f_Zpnc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCul7LLPT48 Carl Bildt have been there:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZhww2mN3aE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUfib0_ou0k |

More history lessons:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkvNJinHv0o Rurik or Riurik (Old Church Slavonic: Рюрик, from Rørik, the Old East Norse form of the name Roderick; c. 830 – c. 879) was a legendary Varangian (Viking) chieftain who gained control of Ladoga in 862, built the Holmgård settlement near Novgorod, and founded the Rurik Dynasty, which ruled Kievan Rus (and later Grand Duchy of Moscow and Tsardom of Russia) until the 17th century. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rurik Nestor the Chronicler: Tjuds, Slavs, Krivitjs and Vepsians said to the Rus (Vikings): Our country is great and rich, but there is no order in it. Come and be princes over us. And they chose three brothers with their families, and they took all the Rus and came. The eldest, Rurik, settled in Novgorod the second, Sineus, settled at Beloozero, and the third, Truvor, in Izborsk. And after these Rus' the country got its name Holmgård Рюриково городище http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rurikovo_Gorodische Rus Etymology According to the most prevalent theory, the name Rus ', like the Finnish name for Sweden (Ruotsi), is derived from an Old Norse term for "the men who row" (rods-) as rowing was the main method of navigating the rivers of Eastern Europe, and that it could be linked to the Swedish coastal area of Roslagen (Rus-law) or Roden, as it was known in earlier times. The name Rus ' would then have the same origin as the Finnish and Estonian names for Sweden: Ruotsi and Rootsi. If I would went to Crimea 350 years ago I would probably understand their language. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimean_Gothic Igor. Have Kazakstan connections like this to Russia as Scandinavia in history? |

Many ukrainians remember Holodomor and can still talk about it. If you know geography, you can look once again the map "Famine in USSR, 1933" (BTW, it's incomplete map) in the Wikipedia article that you post and you will understand that the Ukrainian "Holodomor" was not something specially Ukrainian. It was famine that struck on Ukrainians and Russians, Belorussians, Kazakhs, Tatars, Moldavians, etc. |

Rus Etymology LOL. OK, if you prefer Wikipedia, I can quote it too - "The Rus ' (Slavic: РуÑÑŒ; Greek: Ῥῶς) are an ancient people who gave their name to the lands of Russia and Belarus. Their origin and identity are much in dispute. Some Russian scholars, along with some Westerners, consider the Rus to be a southeastern Slavic tribe that founded a tribal league, the Kievan state. Ibn Khordadbeh, a Persian geographer of the 9th century, also believed the Rus people were Slavic." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rus%27_people |

Rus Etymology You forgot this:) Another theory is that the name comes from the Sarmatian of the Roxolani, who inhabited southern Ukraine, Moldova and Romania (from the Old Persian rokhs, meaning light, white, dirty blond). My reflection... rokhs <-> rus Maybe its a coincident but I think the persians met people who camed from what is now Ukraine but that they didnt know that the people originated from Scandinavia. There are evidences that the vikings had merchant stations along river Dnepr. The Vikings also did a lot of hunting in Ukraina. They hunted most for fur such as fox fur and eventually sold in Constantinople, now Istanbul. btw A Russian scholar during the Stalin era also believed that Rus' where Vikings. However he was sent to GULAG for that! The old link between the Swedes and Ukrainians https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3n6kca4rzI |

The "new Maidan's protesters" seized the administration building in Vinnytsia (Central Ukraine). The chairman of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration accuses protesters for work for the Russian intelligence services. http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=ru&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unian.net%2Fpolitics%2F1018515-predsedatel-vinnitskoy-oga-obvinyaet-protestuyuschih-v-rabote-na-rossiyskie-spetsslujbyi.html P.S. Reading the Ukrainian media, it is clearly that all bad things in the Ukraine is the project of Russian intelligence services. |

Even the Russian version is not a full mirror of Ukrainian version. It's not strange, it's the Ukrainian media. :) |

This is weird. And why do you think that a Ukrainian website is holding back information? Chairperson of Vinnytsia regional State administration Anatoliy Oliynyk assumes that the seizure of the administration building, where machines OG and the Regional Council in the winery, is a planned action of the Russian security services. |

And why do you think that a Ukrainian website is holding back information? Sorry, are you really understand what you wrote? :-O It's all the Ukrainian UNIAN site. When you click mouse to the УКР-РУС-ENG on the near-upper-right corner of their page, you can see it easily. If you think their page on the Russian language is fake, you can translate other their page from the Ukrainian language. http://www.unian.net/politics/1018515-predsedatel-vinnitskoy-oga-obvinyaet-protestuyuschih-v-rabote-na-rossiyskie-spetsslujbyi.html http://www.unian.ua/politics/1018514-golova-vinnitskoji-oda-zvinuvachue-protestuvalnikiv-u-roboti-na-rosiyski-spetsslujbi.html |

I dont have to simply because the story is lame. And Kyiv Post really post not all of Ukrainian news. :) Many Ukrainian web-sites wrote about that speech. And why do you think that a Ukrainian website is holding back information? I understand perfectly actually, but it seems that you actually don't. ;-) You reckon that Ukrainian media holds back info, so are you trying to tell us that you'd rather believe the lies and propaganda that Russian media puts out, and do remember that Russian media won't put out anything that isn't approved by the Kremlin 1st. Cheers. |
