Quick question - updated the shop computer from a EVGA NVIDIA 9600 GT KO to a EVGA NVIDIA 750 Ti SC - Do I need to do anything 'special'?

What I did do - before removing the old card I uninstalled anything Nvidia (drivers, etc) - removed old card - installed new - installed driver disk - then updated drivers/programs off their web site.

As far as the BOINC/Seti do I need to do anything special with the program given the upgraded video card or will it automatticaly adjust and download as needed? (I am not running any optimized apps/programs, just the std package from the site)?

Thanks!

If you've got as far as *, you're probably OK. A couple of us have had big problems installing NVIDA drivers for a GTX 750Ti - mine was under Windows XP, and it completely screwed my Windows installation until I updated my BIOS and chipset drivers (not sure which did the trick - I did both in the same session before installing the card again). Running sweet as a nut now - and at about four times the speed, and half the power, of the 9800GT it replaced.

Your card works better (crunch faster) with CUDA50 not the CUDA32 you actualy use and easely handle 2 or 3 WU at a time, you must go for that.

To change the version of the cuda you use the easiest way is with new Lunatics Installer.

There are several threads who teach who to crucnh more than 1 GPU WU at a time on the forums.

Question though, is it possible to crunch multiple units on the GPU running one core on the CPU? This new card is in an older desktop with a Pentium D 3.6:

I have it limited down to just 1 of the 2 cores on the CPU.

Thanks.

Yes what limit you is if your GPU is capable of that in the case of NV you must have a Fermi or newer card to do that. The 750Ti is a good example of that it could easely handle 2 WU at a time.

Off course the CPU capacity is a bottleneck but most of the newer builds of MB/AP GPU crunching programs handles that very well, specialy the CUDA MB builds who practicaly uses no CPU when crunch on the GPU.
