Saw the splitters were not running for a bit earlier. Now it looks like 18fe09ag was removed from the queue & we have 7 splitters chewing on 6 sets of data.

I like my beans warm... in a tortilla with some cheese. :D

I wonder if they are going to leave the splitters in this configuration for a while. So they don't have to deal with every stuck tape as it happens.

I forget the nature of the disk i/o issue, but we shall blow up that bridge if we come to it again!

I really don't understand just why the additional splitters have not always been enabled. I mean, if they have nothing to do, they automajically idle. There are many times in the past where, such as coming back up from outage, the additional capacity to refill the RTS queue would be a very good thing.

There was some issue related to disk i/o with to many splitters running at once. Not leaving the free disk i/o for other things like transferring data to the download servers or such.
Whatever the issue was might have been overcome and no one flipped the other splitters back on. Who knows? Let's just sit back and see if anything breaks!

Server stress test...LOL.
The Cricket graphs are about the highest sustained level I think I have ever seen them in recent history doing only MB.
Thank the Lord for the colo.

I suspect if there's a disk IO issue it might show when there are AP splitters running in addition to MB splitters. Possibly they'll need to reduce the number of MB splitters when new tape files are loaded...

You haven't shown us the log messages which say how many tasks are being reported, and how much new work is being requested.

One tip for coping with the aftermath of extended outages at busy times is to separate 'reporting' from 'requesting' - set No New Tasks for one cycle, to get rid of the old stuff.

No sign of a timeout in

Actually they're only 7 and 10 years old but they have their own computer to work on. I do work a lot on my youngest computer tho because mine is getting old and doesn't want to cooperate at times...
