Suddenly it seems that everyone but me is crunching. All I get is :
Message from server: No work available

I've been reataching, reinstalling, deliting, renaming pretty much any trick in the book. But no work. What is going on?

Everybody else is in the same situation. The project cannot currently supply enough WUs for everybody.

It would also help if they put up a time scale of how long they think its going to take to sort the lack of work units out.

It is odd then that some ppl can have thousands of credits and some like me cant even dl anything for a week.

And I do really think Seti@home should need someone that is taking care of status reports from the projects that is running. The info on websites are extremly thin in my opinion.

Just curious, Heffed, how you seem to have "inside" information on this? There is nothing on the website that I have seen to indicate that this is the problem. I have seen that they have changed the scheduler app, but nothing about them not having enough WUs for everyone. Do you have an "inside" connection with the S@H program or something?

I apologize if this comes across as sarcastic. I'm not trying to sound like that (although I can see how it could sound that way! ) I'm really curious how you managed to find this out even though it's not posted anywhere! :-)

No inside information other than understanding how the system works a bit from participating in beta. Most of the newcomers aren't understanding what the messages they're seeing means. They aren't sure if they have something wrong at their end, or with the project. I'm telling people that it's a problem at the server end. Most of the "error" messages people are seeing are normal for when the servers are "empty".

What makes you think ANYONE is getting any new units?
That message clearly tells you THERE AREN'T ANY WORK UNITS
AVAILABLE. That's why you aren't getting any; they can't
give out stuff they don't HAVE.

The people who are getting credit NOW are those who completed
work units earlier; the Validator/Transitioner/whatever they call
it is finally getting around to giving credit for stuff finished
early in the week. I haven't had any new units for 4-5 days, yet
my "credit granted" number keeps going up as they finally give
me credit for the stuff I did over the weekend.

There are certainly people still crunching, but they are likely
those who set their "cache" preferences so high that they had
hundreds of units already on their machines waiting to be worked
on. Blame them for hogging all the workunits. :)

Not all of us who are still crunching S@H WUs have caches set high. Mine is set to 0.1 to 0.2 days. It is just that one of my computers (the one still crunching a S@H WU) is SLOOOOOOOW.

You never changed from the setiboinc URL to http://setiathome.berkeley.edu most likely. The setiboinc URL was deactivated a week ago.
