Ebola outbreak: 'It's even worse than I'd feared'

(CNN) -- "It's even worse than I'd feared," Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Wednesday of the Ebola outbreak rampaging through West Africa. "Every day this outbreak goes on, it increases the risk for another export to another country.

As we in Africa sometimes say, "Africa is a big country".

Do you have any idea of the ramifications of this suggestion?

UN: Ebola disease caseload could reach 20,000

GENEVA (AP) — The Ebola outbreak in West Africa is accelerating and could grow six times larger to infect as many as 20,000 people, the World Health Organization said Thursday. The U.N. health agency unveiled a new road map for containing the virus, and scientists are fast-tracking efforts to find a treatment or vaccine.

We all feared this would happen. :(

Ebola virus has mutated during course of outbreak

The Ebola virus sweeping through West Africa has mutated repeatedly during the current outbreak, a fact that could hinder diagnosis and treatment of the devastating disease, according to scientists who have genetically sequenced the virus in scores of victims.

"Sabeti said. “It took a village to make this paper happen. It will take a planet to help get this virus under control.”"

But will it? That is the question!

As I stated you wait in quarintine untill you are deemed safe. Why would that stop the shipment of goods? Im sure someone knows the lifetime of ebola outside the body on an inanimate object.
So Now if the latest report pans out and 20,000 people get ebola. What do you think will happen? You will see border fighting. Ebola world wide will devastate the world worse than the Bubonic plaque ever did to middle age Europe.
And seeing how that they didnt have airplanes back then to spread that diasease. Look at how much death was deliverd to so many counrtys.
So lets all laugh off ebola.
As for that brain eating microbe. Im sure nobody is laughing that one off either. I think last year a girl and a boy got that from being around warm standing water. How it got in the public water system will be found out.

Yep Africa is a big continent. So what. And that is still where Ebola is. Your own link says that Liberia and Sierra leone are closing the borders. Any bets on when the shooting starts?
The WHO totaly underestimated this disease.

Senegal is the fifth country in the region where the virus has spread.

U.S. colleges will screen some students for Ebola

For many U.S. college students arriving from West Africa, this year’s “back to school” routine will include a screening for Ebola.

Although health and university officials agree that the threat of the virus spreading at a college in the United States is small, some schools are taking absolutely no chances, according to an Associated Press report on college responses to the outbreak.
