I think this would be a better theme for canning, particularly with your opening line ;)

Bringing back memories of when I was 13 yrs old. Blackberry jam. The year I move to the countryside there was a fire that went through the area. The next summer the blackberries were thick all over. My dad and mom had me and my brother picking 5 galon buckets full. It was a lot of work to pick and prepare the berries but the end results were worth it. Memory is a bit foggy but it was around 50 to 60 pints.

As a a very small child I was often drafted to go out
to what we called: 'The Blue Berry Mountains.'
My Mother and my big sister Gail could pick tens of pounds
of the things in a day. Mean while Mum would issue myself
and my two immediate older brothers with a very small plastic
beakers to deposit our picked blue berries.
Alas after the day was done there was a contest between
myself and my brothers for the "Most Berries Picked" for
that day. Generally the oldest of us ( Six years old.)
come in with at least, almost, maybe, a whole beaker of
berries. Meanwhile my self and my brother Donny would be
lucky to muster one or two little green or brown berries
in the plastic beaker, and as well we would be coloured blue
from our hair line, to our kneecaps.

That brings to mind that when I was a child there was a local farm that grew Raspberrys I was too young to go picking them but my older sisters all did I think that they went one for you one for me and as rasps have a rather laxitive affect well........
