Remember what Khrushchev did to Ukraine, as one of Stalin's mass murdering henchmen. Are you 90 years old :) and remember the Holodomor? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor The total number of population losses across the entire Soviet Union is estimated as 6–7 million. Survival was a moral as well as a physical struggle. A woman doctor wrote to a friend in June 1933 that she had not yet become a cannibal, but was "not sure that I shall not be one by the time my letter reaches you." The good people died first. Those who refused to steal or to prostitute themselves died. Those who gave food to others died. Those who refused to eat corpses died. Those who refused to kill their fellow man died. Khrushchev was at that time a joker to Stalin. They had late night sessions with a lot vodka together with Stalins other henchmens. Khrushchev was both a party animal and a thug who followed Stalins order. Mass starvation of Ukraine post WWII:( The famine was very great in the Ukraine in 1947 Almost the entire Maria Malmas family died during the famine. School children were given 150 grams of bread per day, infant died of starvation and the adults who worked hungered, says Anna Sigalet. Anna Sigalet also talks about her period in Siberia doing forced labour, -55 C Cold. Brrrrr. http://svenska.yle.fi/arkivet/artikkelit/gammalsvenskby_i_ukraina_67068.html#media=67077 They speak Swedish:) |

Khrushchev was at that time a joker to Stalin. At least Putin isn't a mass murderer. But I read that the Russian constitution allows him to be a president until 2024. Yes, Another 10 years:( Tonight I'm going to refresh my memory with this film about Khrushchev. 50 years since I did that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWDWfjUyTLU Khrushchev - The Bear's Embrace Narrated by actor Henry Fonda Produced by New York Times. |

If you cant beat them why not humiliate them? Kremlin-backed separatists humiliate Ukrainian army in Donetsk parade on Independence day! http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/kremlin-backed-separatists-humiliate-ukrainian-army-in-donetsk-parade-361888.html Photos and videos show hundreds of civilians who gathered to witness the humiliation of Ukrainian soldiers. The people are heard chanting "Fascists!", calling the soldiers "F*cking demons!" and "F*ggots!" and demanding that the servicemen get on their knees. Some were throwing flour, eggs and bottles at the prisoners. This is clearly a violation of international laws and perhaps the Geneva Convention regarding POWs. |

If you cant beat them why not humiliate them? Probably never... I can't recall any Head of State standing any trial in modern history. Executed yes but no trial. |

Why would Putin be put on trial for the actions of a mob of civilians in a country where he has no authority? Kolch - Crunching for the BOINC@Australia team since July 2004. Search for your own intelligence... |

Are you saying that the people remaining in the regions of Eastern Ukraine are only Russians? I agree that most of the people there called themselves Russian from the beginning. That is the very reason why your entire argument is moot. The eastern areas of Ukraine are filled with Russians and they would fight a Ukraine government that despises them. That has nothing to do with Putin. Or Russia. Kolch - Crunching for the BOINC@Australia team since July 2004. Search for your own intelligence... |

So if China buys one of the big mining companies operating in Queensland, and they ships in 1,000's of Chinese workers to do the dirty jobs the Australians don't want at low wages. Then in ten or twenty years these Chinese workers then declare Queensland is now part of China. Are you and all the rest of Australia going to roll over and say "By all means, it's all yours" and redraw the borders. |

Oh dear. Australia have media that cover the Ukrainian crisis. Maybe you should start read them. http://www.abc.net.au/news/topic/ukraine The mob in Eastern Ukraine are a minority. Donbas is only a part of Eastern Ukraine. Donbas are not filled with Russians. They are Ukrianians who speaks Russian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donbas Moot? Merely facts. |

Then in ten or twenty years these Chinese workers then declare Queensland is now part of China. I understand the comparison you're trying to make but it is apples and oranges. For one thing, no part of this country has been part of the Chinese Empire at any point in history. Another thing is that immigration laws prevent exactly that possibility. Don't think people in this country don't worry about Chinese companies buying large tracts of land for mining and agriculture though... I'm just not one of them. The Don Basin - The Heart of Russia A link to a 1921 Russian poster from the very wiki page you referred to. The area clearly has strong historical ties to Russia. In any case, assuming the Ukrainian military crushes all resistance as it seems they will, how then do you propose they will govern an area where the people are so openly in opposition to the policy of the government in Kiev? I guess they will have a military occupation of their own territories. Kolch - Crunching for the BOINC@Australia team since July 2004. Search for your own intelligence... |

History of Europe - 6013 years in 3 minutes Relating to Russia vs Ukraine, this history shows that the area has been "Russian" since mid-late 18th century. Only really in the last 20 years has there been a true Ukraine. Kolch - Crunching for the BOINC@Australia team since July 2004. Search for your own intelligence... |

A link to a 1921 Russian poster from the very wiki page you referred to. Hmm 1921 Lenin Days in Russia. 1922 - 1952 Stalin era in Soviet not Russia. 1992 End of Soviet. According to my calculation it means 70 years since Ukrainia belonged to Russia |

History of Europe - 6013 years in 3 minutes Only really in the last 20 years ? How many years does it takes to be a true country? Finland has only been Finland in 100 years. Some has Swedish as their native language. So called Donetsk Peoples Republic in Donbass is only 3 months old! Crimea has been Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic or Ukrainian for 60 years. btw Dont they teach history in Australian schools? Sounds almost like US:) |
