Merciful heavens!!! I do hope my beloved Eric steers clear of all the little tarts found in Miggins' newly opened shoppe. The poor man does suffer from hardening... of the arteries, don't you know. Why, hello Angela, I hope that I find you well. Now as for your beloved, if my tarts give him palpitations I have just the rememedy. I know that beating egg whites poses no problem....I know from experience that a swift wrist action can make almost anything stand up stiffly. |

Muriel, darling! You have been missed. I am quite well. Thanks so for asking. As for the bacon, I shall be sure to direct it to Eric's attention. He loves a good, high quality strip in the morning... |

Hello Byron, sorry I've not been around for a while, I've still had lots to do in my little emporium. The dust has been gathering in my cracks and crevices while I've been otherwise engaged in erstwhile pursuits. Some of the places are a devil to reach with a feather duster. But after a while the results bring a smile to my face. Now, has anyone seen that ageing lothario Sidney? Rumours were afoot that he was attempting to find the identity of a rogue that had taken advantage of me while my back was turned, the cad. He only did it once mind you, a pickle slicer is a wonderful invention. RMS QM2 First Class Deck Commodore Club 27th inst. My Dear Colleagues, As I speak I am wending my way back to the shores of the land of Gardens and Orchards, namely our dear England, personified by the white cliffs of Dover. Do pray excuse me if I have lapsed into the poetical vernacular, but they serve uncommonly decent pink gins on board, which have rather attracted my attention as a most agreeable aperitif before dinner. Alas, I have to convey that my endeavours to uncover the rogue that had taken advantage of Mrs Miggins while her attention was otherwise diverted, did not come to a satisfactory conclusion. However, I do recall an employee of hers in a previous establishment, that backed into a bacon slicer and got a little behind with his orders. In fact I believe that I may not be a moment to soon, as I am led to understand that some Ladies of previously fine reputation, have taken to indulging in various morning activities that perhaps we should draw a veil over. In fact, it may well be that we need to draw as many as seven. I did suggest to Muriel once that we tried coq au vin, but she got quite flustered and said it was a hotel room or nothing, so I had to return the hired Ford Transit to the dealers. Look out, Sidney has been on the gin again. I hope he doesn't do what he did last time. I did warn him not to to whisper such suggestions to a lady. Luckily I was close at hand, so he whispered them to me instead. And as usuall, Miggens was the perfect lady about the whole shenannigan. Her sense of humour, as always, seems to make gentlemen our of even the most boorish of men. I shall salute here with a shot of my finest whiskey. A shot fired odf a bridge that was never long enough to keep me here. I have long enough told you about why and where. My stories are getting old, as am I. I shall go now. The kittyman saga is over... I am done here now. Goodby, and thanks for all of the fish. The kitties really did like them. I would just ask that you donate a few kibbled to some who need them. There are so many who do. It was quite nice while it lasted/ "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

That reminds me of the time I suggested to Ol Pookers that we dine al fresco and he replied that eating outdoors might be more comfortable... |

That reminds me of a conversation I had with my sister once upon a time. Dining in, in. (At the dining room table) Dining in, out. (At the picnic table out back) Dining out, in. (At a restaurant, inside). Dining out, out. (Covered a wide variety of situations, not in the home, and outside. Everything from al fresco at a restaurant, to a picnic, to backpacking dinner). I met him once, Al Fresco, he asked me to lay my wares out in the open, I was quite shocked, I can tell you and when he suggested we shake it all about I'd just about had enough. While I'm awaiting the return of Sidney I have been reminiscing about days gone by. I remember one time, we were looking up at the stars and he whispered gently to me: " I love a little innuendo." I replied, " I know, I can see it from here." Funny, but he never called round for a few weeks after that. Officers Club Pall Mall London IR1 UR2 28th inst. My dearest Muriel, Having disembarked some 24 hours ago from my sea voyage at Southampton, I comandeered a carriage and pair, and sped poste haste to London town, where I am currently ensconced as we speak. I should be most indebted if you would do me the honour of furnishing me with the location of your latest culinary endeavour, whereupon I shall leave no stone unturned to arrange a meeting to our mutual advantage in the near future. In the meantime, whilst the valet unpacks the trunk, I shall repare to the excellently stocked bar at this establishment and order a large Gin & tonic, while I peruse the dinner menu. As you have often remarked my dear, you like a good stiff one before a meal. I beg to remain your most faithfull servant, Sidney J. Back in dear old Blighty I see Sidney and heading straight for a snifter or two in your favourite watering hole and by the look of things, you may be there for some time. You can find me, as always, in Nooky Lane, giving my all to keep up with the demand for my Jammy Dodgers. Mr Snodgrass! Tis you!! Back in dear Olde Englande! :) I trust you did not find yourself becalmed too often on your homeward journey... and that your sea-legs were of a trustworthy disposition? Dear Mrs Miggins has been so busy attending to her nooks and crannies. To be frank Mr Snodgrass, I came over quite flustered just casting my mind upon all that whisking and polishing such endeavours would have required from her... I may indeed have done myself an injury thinking so hard upon just one matter for such a long interval, but... a little rest and recuperation will no doubt repair some of the damage :) As to... Oh... Oh dear... it seems I have temporarily taken leave of my senses and forgotten the point I was about to raise with you Mr Snodgrass... oh silly silly Anniet!! I recall I did desire a mention of Mrs Miggin's's delectable and generously proportioned tarts and muffins that she has so winsomely displayed and so freely offered to all, but... having departed so inelegantly from my wits I cannot recall quite how I intended to mention them at all... and now I fear the way I have gabbled it at you, dear sir, may have made the whole affair seem - well quite unmentionable. Indeed, perhaps it might be best that yet another veil be found... behind which I can perchance extract both lower appendages from twixt the teeth I have so firmly wedged them in? Until such time as I have succeeded in this endeavour, I am, retiringly yours :) |

Officers Club Pall Mall London IR1 UR2 28th inst. My dear AnnieT, How exquisitely delightful in the extreme to renew our previous acquaintance, this is indeed an unexpected pleasure I can assure you. But I am somewhat concerned to learn that apparently you have succumbed to a bout of human Aphthae epizooticae. I earnestly trust that you will recover from this most unfortunate situation as soon as possible. Upon your behalf I shall enquire at the nearest haberdashery, whether they have any suitable fabric that might be purchased, to fashion an 8th veil to alleviate your current predicament. Dearest Muriel has been well known to "winsome", but it has usually been 10 bob each way on the favourite at Newmarket, down at Flash Harry's the bookmakers. However she is well known for being a bit of a handful herself at 5-1 when the going is good. I note with some considerable interest that you are describing yourself as "retiringly yours". In which case my usual nightcap is a glass of decent port, but I do trust and fervently hope that you don't have a predilection to an affliction of OSA. With kindest regards and felicitations, Sidney J. Snodgrass (Retd) Late of Her Majesties 3rd Foot & Mouth Will Muriel Miggins ever be mine? |
