Good morning folks! I had to replace my ASUS 7950 TOP yesterday as one of the fans seized up. So I purchased and installed an ASUS R9280X TOP from Newegg. Let the new card crunch overnight and I woke to find 3 errors in TASKS, http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?userid=7786195 Two of the errors report "Exit code -4"...??? Can someone explain this? Oh, and many apologies to wingmen! No other problems to report, card has crunched 41 APs in 8hrs 27 mins ( 2 gpu w/ 2 cpu) using Lunatics. GPU temps at 115f at 87% load...pretty nice. But the three errors are a worry. |

thanks for reply Mike...yes I uninstalled the Catalyst and 14.4 driver before removing the 7950. Then after installing the 280X, I reinstalled the Cat and 14.4 driver. I read somewhere(?) that's how to do it. Just a note about the page file. My ram is 16GB and page file is twice that on a 256GB ssd, of which 140GB+ is free. So I need more page file? |

Did you use the uninstall utility ? Cat 14.4 leaves a few files behind. Very important because either the 7950 and 280x are both Tahiti core but different IDs. This can cause issues especially with 14.4. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I used the uninstall utility yes, and I have CC Cleaner also but I think age (55+) prevents me from remembering whether or not I used it after the CAT uninstall lol. : / |

Well I'll keep a watch on things and if any more Errors show, I'll do a uninstall/reinstall of 14.4 but atm it seems isolated to those three... |

... If you scroll to the bottom of the stderr for those 3533906929 and 3533906933 reports, you'll see: Error parsing WU header: dm_hi=0 <= dm_low=0 All AP WUs to date have had dm_hi=15000 and dm_low=896, the zeroes suggest corruption of the downloaded file, either in transit or some filesystem glitch could be involved. Wingmates apparently got files which passed header checks, so the WU file stored by the splitter was OK. Client side BOINC doesn't attempt to keep evidence when there's a problem, so we'll probably never know what happened. Joe |
