Hi Folks,

I have been running a Mac Pro with Seti for 7 years, a dual quad, runs 8 tasks at once no problem.

Have purchased the new Mac Pro and it runs 8 tasks when it could run 24. Can't figure out what is wrong. Have set the max CPU's to 24. The mac runs 8 tasks assigning each to three threads and then it cycles through those three threads. So 1 is active at 100% and 2 at 0%. I want 24 threads at 100% - is this possible, and if so how?

TIA

There are two preference settings for telling BOINC how many CPUs to use:

On multiprocessors, use at most 8 processors

On multiprocessors, use at most Enforced by version 6.1+ 75% of the processors

The first one is for use with BOINC 5.10 and earlier. The second one, in the form of a percentage, is the one to use for all newer versions of BOINC. BOINC is seeing all 24 CPUs on your Mac, so if BOINC is not using them, then it is a preference thing.

Yeah I have the same issue. Running seri at home 7.00, I have a 6 core 3.5 GHz mac pro (the new one) yet only running 8 work units, despite CPU usage in the preferences is set to 100%.

Can someone elaborate?

thanks,

Mark

Can you post the first 30 lines of your BOINC Event Log?
