Anyone know what happened to Bionc stats page? my current credit went from 2,993,272 down to 17,631 on Seti

Looks like BoincStats had some sort of crash. The complaints are starting on their forum already.

Edit - the administrator has now posted:

Indeed. There is a problem with today's stats update.

There were I/O errors (hard disk errors) on the update server.

During the scheduled update it skipped World Community Grid, which disappeared from the combined stats. I know think this was because of the I/O error.

The first fix I ran actually made things worse and it removed all active projects. For some reason PERL/MySQL were behaving very odd and my fix script did not include any active project even though the code was sound.

The second fix is running now. Will take some time. Fingers crossed!

Think yourself lucky, I have disappeared altogether! Main reason for posting this is to see what has happened to my signature file which is linked to boinc stats.

Interesting it still exists even though I apparently do not!

Looks like a lot of shorties going through the system for the last few hours. And while they're keeping up (barely), the splitters are showing the strain.

That was the shortest AP break that I have seen in a long time. As of this post there is 56 channels of APs remaining to be split

I'm not normally one to complain about small changes.. but if you go and look at the taskID for any completed tasks you have.. the run/CPU times are now displayed in units instead of just seconds.

I guess there was a reason for it..but it just feels weird and I don't like it. :( It has always been seconds with a decimal point, too. I was okay with it when they changed the credit granted to only showing two digits behind the decimal instead of 8(?)... but now the time being human readable is just an outrage! (comedic sarcasm there...don't take that statement seriously)

Seriously though.. it's just weird. Maybe I'll get used to it.. but change just feels weird and I don't like it.

Thank goodness he didn't apply the same change to the summary task lists - that would really mess up your spreadsheets.

Woah, that's weird. I looked at it and I was like "how many seconds are in 4 hours". Really glad the task list hasn't changed. That would tend to make it more difficult for me to do comparisons.

Maybe thats what they want. To make comparisons diffecult.

Either they fixed the splitter WU production problem, or the splitters are having a fit.

I would agree with you. I think it is stepping down again as I write this it is splitting at just over 22 a second

I dunno the creation rate seems pretty normal to me. 240/sec is normal right?</sarcasm>

The ready to send has dropped down to about 100k prior to maintenance. So I suppose this is not totally unexpected behavior.

I think the time-base for the Haveland graphs is UTC+2, or 9 hours ahead of Berkeley. So the first dip in RTS (to about 150K) came with the 'great slurp' at the end of maintenance yesterday.

It then looks as if the transitioners failed at about 7pm (Berkeley time), and reset themselves at midnight. We went on slurping, leading to the second (100K) dip, and the concurrent rise in results awaiting validation.

I think Joe had the answer for the next bit: when the splitters are running, they create workunits (quite slowly). But they need transitioners to make results for those workunits, and they can run at 240/sec or more - hence the midnight feast.

It is true that I've faced a few hurdles to the process with a few changes over the years, but I've adapted every time. The most inconvenient change was the task names being sorted alphabetically with no way to go back to the order they were assigned and still showing the names. I adapted though. So.. I will end up adapting to this, too.

I'm sure the change was for the greater good and benefits somebody..so I can't be selfish and expect things to be the way I want them. I'll just have to adapt.. or quit doing the spreadsheet. There's not really any reason to do it anymore..I've just been doing it for so long it is almost an instinct now...part of the daily routine.

If I feel like something has become a chore, and there's no NEED for it to be done, I try to quit doing it.

I'm just waiting for the day when "granted credit" gets simplified down to "some" or "yes". *shrug*

Anyway.. I really don't have a reason or purpose to keep doing this spreadsheet.. it's just kind of become a routine. I figure I'll stop it soon though, when I get to 5000 records (it is at 4599 presently). Guess that's a decent stopping point.
