I've only been crunching for just over a year, and will be hitting my first million credits on SETI@home this weekend. I don't have an exotic GPU crunching farm, servers or workstations at my disposal; rather I'm just a guy with a couple laptops and an interest in this work. While I wish I could rack up a bigger score, this is still a nice little milestone to celebrate.

It's been a real pleasure supporting the program. The community is amazing and am glad to be a part of it.

Cheers, and keep on crunching!

The average participant's RAC, project-wide, is almost exactly one thousand... yes, 1,000. 1K.

So, in fact, you're doing over six times the average, which is why you're in the 5% elite (silver badge.) Congrats on your first million. :^)

Edit: And your first post... welcome to the forums. And you're even a donor... talk about elite: only 0.19%, or about 1 in 500, of participants are also donors.

A wonderful little milestone, that first Million.
I still remember how chuffed I was back then.
Long time passing, as the song goes.

Now I am awaiting my half a Billion marker.
Wow.

Congrats on your milestone, my friend.

Many more to come for you.

Thanks BDC, for the steer to the actual 'milestones' message board.

I appreciate everyone's encouragement as well - thanks for that!

I'll keep crunching and doing what I can and recognize that while the credits are the indicator of progress made processing the data, the real prize will be someday making contact :)

Really great job :) Everyone always says that you remember the first million, and it is true.

It is.

I remember mine still.

And, all discussions about credits are rather moot.
I can say that I came here for the science, which I most certainly am.
But, it was the competitive demon in myself that led me to where I am today.
I was a really, really small person in high school. No friends. NADA.
Always looked down. Always kept to myself.
So, when I came across Seti and thought....this I can do in a big way....

And so it became my little obsession.

And I over the years garnered a few very fine friends that have made it possible.
I could not have done this all on my own, not financially possible for me. But some here have understood my zeal over the years and have granted me many gifts, knowing that I would make the utmost use of them in my quest for excellence.

I once again salute and thank each and every one of you for enabling me to do this. It is just inestimable or quantifiable what you have meant to me.
I cannot quite express my joy without breaking into tears...LOL. If THAT sentence makes any sense....

You know who you are, and I hope that you get a bit of my gratitude back whenever you see my success that YOU have contributed so much to.

Thanks.

Msattler,

Agree 100% percent about being here for the science and the hope of making some kind of breakthrough re: knowledge of intelligence elsewhere in the universe. I think that most who are committed to SETI understand the significance that making contact would have on humanity, history and the future.

Your incredible contributions to the effort are noteworthy and inspirational (as evident by your enormous credit total).

Thank you for all of the time, effort and expense you have invested in SETI and encouraging others to do the same.

I think regardless of your challenges as an adolescent, you have already accomplished something extraordinary, impactful and important.

Best,
Spencer
