Is it possible to upgrade the RAM? I seem to remember reading that with multiple GPUs (at least in game playing) that not enough ram caused the games to stall. Maybe there is something similar occurring when crunching? Maybe when 2 are running, it stalls out and give an error but 1 runs fine. Just a thought Quite right, Wiggo. Unfortunately :) But I do appreciate your input Zalster, thank you for adding to the conversation. You could be correct. I used to run two cards on this system successfully, but it was the ATI card in question now and an old 512mb NVIDIA 8800. Presumably that setup would require less resources to run properly, although I am kind of just guessing. |

I had pretty much the same setup as mherr, Q6600, 4GB mem, Win7 x86, but I had 2x GTX660's in it running 3 tasks on each card and the only concession that I had to make there was to free a CPU core. When that same rig ran 1x GTX550Ti's, running 2 tasks on each card I could use all 4 cores. So I can't see that system memory being a problem. Cheers. |

A very strange outcome seems to have happened once I got the nice software suggested by Bill. GPU-Z, Msi Afterburner, SIV, and GPUTweak. All of them can barely get any information from that ATI Card. No temperature, no mhz reading, nothing. It recognizes it, but no information. Funny thing is, so far the ATI card has given 100% accurate WU turnover. Albeit, only a few have actually made it so far. This time I have a fan pointing right at the card, and it seems to be going at a better rate than before. It is unfortunately quite disturbing however, the fact that almost no information about that card can be received. |

I've always had a similar problem with the lower card in my similar rig, but I can only put that down to it being in a 4x PCI-e slot and swapping cards around has proved this on my rig, though I do get the most important info such as card and fan speeds. This is why I asked about your actual motherboard details as some can have some funny quirks involved in running a 2nd card successfully. Cheers. |

Right! Sorry Wiggo, I almost forgot. Thanks to SIV, it seems to be a Dell 630i Motherboard. |

GPU-Z, Msi Afterburner, SIV, and GPUTweak. All of them can barely get any information from that ATI Card. No temperature, no mhz reading, nothing. It recognizes it, but no information. Do you run all these programs at the same time? Try to run only one at a time. Several programs competing to read the sensors may conflict. (I'm not familiar with GPUTweak) (SIV is 'nice' and do not read sensors if they are locked by another program) Can you do this: Run only SIV (and no other monitoring programs) while BOINC is loading the CPU and GPUs Right-click the [OK] button and 'Save Public' A file SIV_<computer_name>.txt will be created next to the SIV32X.exe Go to this site: http://pastebin.com/ ... paste the contents of this .txt file, [Submit] and give the link generated. Did you install drivers from ATI AMD or from ASUS? ASUS site say: Power Consumption - up to 150W - 1 additional 6 pin PCIe power required https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/HD7770DC1GD5V2/specifications/ Did you connect the 'additional 6 pin PCIe power' connector from PSU? I do not have a monitor attached to the 7770 card. I downloaded the latest Catalyst software from the AMD website. And I did plug in a single 6pin power cord. I can check to make sure it is connected properly. As far as unlocking something with the software, I'll have to poke around some more to see :) Thanks very much for taking a look at my logs. |

A very strange outcome seems to have happened once I got the nice software suggested by Bill. I reported a Bug to AMD about Hardware Monitoring being available when using Cat 13.4 and 13.5 while running my HD7770 headless, (you're running Cat 13.4/APP runtime 1124.2) Upgrade to Cat 13.12 and hardware Monitoring will/should return, it did here (When I had my GTX460 still fitted, and the HD7770 headless). I've installed the 13.12 catalyst package, but after a reboot I still can't get any information about the card. Thanks for your suggestion however, I'll keep playing around... |

Thanks for your suggestion however, I'll keep playing around...Have you got the desktop extended onto the HD7770? No. I have the monitor plugged into my NVIDIA 650, and the only cord going into the 7770 is the power cord. You are suggesting perhaps that I switch them? |

You are suggesting perhaps that I switch them? No, he means this: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=74392&postid=1493542#1493542 Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Claggy and Bill, Thanks to you guys very very much. I don't want to speak too soon, but perhaps some great news! After extending the desktop, the data about the 7770 card shows up in the various monitoring programs! Not only that, but after giving the 7770 a WU, SIV shows it back up to 1GB+ mhz, so even that issue looks resolved! This is really great! I'm going to cross my fingers that the 7770 can do some work over the weekend and turn up valid WUs! |

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I have a question if anyone is still reading :) I followed the advice of Claggy and Bill and got my ATI card going great. Except then I upgraded my windows 8 machine to windows 8.1. Now, the same thing is occuring. The ATI card does not show up in the various monitoring services, and the WUs on this card seem to not be going well anymore. The same steps that fixed it for 8.0 does not seem to fix it for 8.1. Any ideas as to what might have happened? |

Reboot? Repeat 'Extending or duplicating the desktop'? (I don't know if 'duplicating' will have the same effect as 'Extending' for our purpose) http://www.samsung.com/us/support/howtoguide/N0000137/8690/107296/NP550P7C-T01US http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03512749 http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?docid=582402 I don't know if the same can be done using 'Catalyst Control Center' or 'NVIDIA Control Panel' As last resort try to connect a monitor (or the second port of your existing monitor) to the ATI card  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |

Thanks very much for your suggestions, Bill! I have to head to work right now, but this evening I will give your help a try. Thanks very much! |

Extending the displays indeed got me back in business. I think this was a mistake on my part. I originally said that the same steps that worked for 8.0 didn't work for 8.1. I think this was a human error, because the instructions say originally to set the desktops to display. There may have never been a problem, other than me missing a step in the directions. My apologies, but at least we should know that these steps should still work for windows 8.1. |

Extending the displays indeed got me back in business. I wonder if "Extending the displays" makes the mouse pointer go off-screen in the 'nowhere'? And if sometimes you don't know where is some window because it is on the non-existent second monitor? This will be annoying  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |
