What is the best way to change over?
Right now I have 16 boxes running SETI DRIVER and all is going good But I will hit 5000 WU by the end of tommorrow and I want to convert with as little problem
as possible they all connect to the internet VIA a 16 port hub to a router to cable modem.
Will this work for BOINC/SETI?
What is the best version to run/fastest?
and can you cash work units for a couple days work?

Best way to change over - install boinc on all the computers using the same url and account key that you receive in the email when you register. The hub, router and cable modem should work fine as is. Install the current version 4.13 and you can cash work units for a couple of days. Just remember that the work units will expire or time out at 2 weeks. They must be returned within the 2 week window to get credit. Each computer will maintain it's own cash, a program such as Seti Driver is not needed. To monitor all the computers use a program such as BoincView from your main computer.

I'm going to assume you want to run seti@home science app. on all the BOINC managers. (Like you are now with classic)

Use the seti @ boinc link to convert your classic account to boinc.
Note: Classic account will continue to exist, it will eventually copy over your 5000 WU and CPU time.

Choose one of the machines. Download and install BOINC 4.13 on it.

Retrieve the email that seti @boinc sends you with your 32 character user ID number.

The first prompt you get in BOINC is "attach to a project...", which asks for the information from the email sent to you.

Once you have joined the project on that one machine...inside the folder where you installed boinc, you will find a file named "account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml".

Install BOINC on each of the other machines you want to use, but don't run the application yet.

Copy this "account..." file to the directory where you installed BOINC on each of these machines.

When you run BOINC for the first time on these other machines, it will know you are already part of a project and won't ask again.

Caching
BOINC can/does cache. You tell BOINC how much to cache on your "Your Account" web page (on the server), under "Preferences" -- "View edit general preferences". The value "Connect about every ___ days" determines how much to cache. This is a floating point number so you could type 0.1, or 0.532, or 1.5. I would advise when starting out use less than a day until you have it all figured out.

When a project is first run on a new machine it will download only as many WUs as you have CPUs on that machine. Once you complete the WU, the program will then connect to the servers and download enough WUs to complete within your "___ days" setting above. (It is based on, how long machine is left on each day, estimated speed of WU completion, # of CPUs, etc.)

Note that the site is lacking some recent updates as I have not been well (well, mostly I have been a little worse than normal) but aside from some small details nothing is invalid (well, at least I don't think there is ...), and should get you going.
