I think a lot of people are thinking along your lines Sirius, and I wouldn't be too surprised to see it come into being in the not too distant future. The sad thing is even it came into being (legal requirement) tomorrow it would be too late for the passengers and crew of flight MH370 - why wasn't it kicked into motion after the Air France flight into the Atlantic..... Sadly, it has always taken a major incident to change the airline industry. However, the changes made over the years has increased not decreased aircraft safety..... ..let's hope it continues that way. |

For a graduate, that is an insensitive post. Would you have made it if your parents were aboard that aircraft? because god knows, the only important thing in the entire world is not to be 'insensitive' 5000 strangers, worldwide, passed on while I was typing this. Be sure to rip out a handful of hair for every one. If you don't touch it, you can't break it. ; |

Another interesting news story on scenarios that may have happened. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/confusion-then-terror-analysing-the-final-hours-of-missing-malaysia-airlines-flight-mh370/story-fnizu68q-1226870765748 Cheers. |

FBI, cleared the pilots, of any wrong doing. Malaysia is now calling this missing plane a criminal act. New search area. Still know sign of plane. |

About the only criminal act that I can see so far is that of the Malaysian government and their handling of this whole affair especially after releasing another audio transcript 3 weeks after the first that finishes with different words entirely. I can understand why people no longer trust what they say. Cheers. |

Disappearance may never be solved Find that hard to believe considering we have come a long way since Amelia Earhart's day. |

One thing this has brought to light was reported on the BBC last night was just how much money and time has been wasted searching rubbish we've been dumping in the ocean - particularly plastics. The whole thing has been a shambles. I don't know how the relatives and loved ones of those lost have managed to cope :( In this day and age when so much of what ordinary people do is being constantly monitored, it beggars believe that we may never know what happened to something as large as a commercial passenger jet. |

Developing story.. BEIJING — A Chinese naval ship searching for the missing Malaysian airliner has picked up an audio pulse in the Indian Ocean at the same frequency emitted by the plane’s emergency location beacons, Chinese media reported Saturday, but it has not been established whether the signal is connected to the plane. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/chinese-ship-hears-pulse-possibly-from-missing-malaysia-airlines-flights-black-box/2014/04/05/df1dfc97-8308-450e-9f7e-6c94c2f4bf6d_story.html?hpid=z1 Yesterday, 4/4/14, was one month since the plane went missing. |

Have they found flight MH370? Search ship detects a black box 'pulse signal' from 3.5 miles below southern Indian Ocean and Chinese air force plane spots '20 pieces of debris' Chinese ship Haixun 01 is said to have picked up the signal 37.5Hz understood to be the same frequency as emitted by flight recorders Australian officials confirm that the signal is consistent with a black box MH370 went missing on March 8 travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing The deepest part of the search zone is 5,800 metres or 19,000 feet Teams are scouring an area that measures 84,000 square miles A Chinese air force plane spotted around 20 pieces of potential debris http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2597630/Chinese-ship-looking-missing-Malaysia-Airlines-plane-detects-black-box-pulse-signal-southern-Indian-Ocean.html For the sake of the family's. hope it's MH370? |

It seems like a 2nd black box signal may now have been picked up. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/second-signal-heard-during-search-for-black-box-from-missing-malaysia-airlines-flight-mh370/story-fnizu68q-1226875988698 A SECOND signal that could be from the black box of missing flight MH370 has been detected 2km from the initial detection area. Cheers. |

News here today is that flight MH370 flew around Indonesia airspace in what looks to be a deliberate attempt to avoid radar detection according to a new data analyst. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/missing-malaysia-airlines-flight-mh370-flew-around-indonesia-airspace-second-signal-heard-in-black-box-search/story-fnizu68q-1226875988698 Cheers. |

News here today is that flight MH370 flew around Indonesia airspace in what looks to be a deliberate attempt to avoid radar detection according to a new data analyst. Thanks Wiggo. It has been said Indonesia, did not turn over the radar they had. Before passing judgement on anyone, this is a wait and lets see what else come out of the investigation. |

Quite frankly Lynn, the lack of openness and cooperation from all those countries' governments from the origin area of this flight is really getting on our goat here as we've been sent on wild goose chases for weeks on end from SE Asia well to our north all the way to the deep south of the Indian Ocean at great expense and time when this search should've been shortened by weeks and cost. Cheers. |

Wiggo, a couple of threads ago, it was estimated 1 Billion Dollars spent, in search for the pane. I can't guess what the cost is now. I admire the Australian Government, for taking the lead. Since it was the Chinese, who heard the first pinger from the plane, in the end China will claim victory. That is a damn shame. |

That's another point Lynn, why did those Chinese ships go directly to an area hundreds of kilometres north of where the rest of us were sent? (just luck or on purpose?) The next point is that all debris found from the flight is suppose to be sent immediately to Western Australia so that experts from all around the world can get straight into examining them, will the Chinese follow this directive or will they start doing things on their own and maybe corrupt evidence? As I said previously, the lack of openness and cooperation from all those countries up in that region has been sadly lacking in our view of this disaster and the lives of those on that plane and their relatives. It will certainly be interesting what conclusions will come out at the end of this disaster though that maybe still months or even years away yet, but it was certainly a botched operation right from the start. Cheers. |

That's another point Lynn, why did those Chinese ships go directly to an area hundreds of kilometres north of where the rest of us were sent? (just luck or on purpose?) Who knows about the Chinese? I don't trust them. I think China, has a secret satellite, as does the US. and many other for Foreign countries. China is supposed to turn over anything they find. I thought they did, when they found the pings. I have not heard anything about the debris. Now here comes a British ship to help with the pings. Good! If Malaysia, had been honest from the start, maybe the search would not be this botched. China, is just looking in their own search area, which says, to me their secret satellite knows where the plane is, what it carried in the cargo. |

This just In... Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (CNN) -- After a month of searching, investigators now have their "most promising" lead yet in finding Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. A pinger locator in the Indian Ocean has detected signals consistent with those emitted by aircraft black boxes, the head of the Joint Agency Coordination Center said Monday. The sounds were heard at a depth of 4,500 meters (about 14,764 feet), retired Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston said. I like Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston. Still no signs of wreckage. :( http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/06/world/asia/malaysia-airlines-plane/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 |

Australian ship Ocean Shield has picked up more signals from the black boxes and is narrowing down the search area before deploying the Blue Fin 21 autonomous underwater vehicle. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/missing-malaysia-airlines-flight-mh370-more-signals-detected/story-fnizu68q-1226878441833 So it looks like we may finally get some answers after a very long and time consuming search for this plane. Cheers. |

Australian ship Ocean Shield has picked up more signals from the black boxes and is narrowing down the search area before deploying the Blue Fin 21 autonomous underwater vehicle. I do hope so Wiggo. It won't be easy for the families of those lost but if it can remove some of the question marks hanging over this whole sorry mess, it must be preferable to the nightmare scenario of the last weeks. One of our free papers (the metro - which I only read if I am bored to tears - so take it as read I was bored to tears) is saying today that no signals have been detected for four days. Aint the press marvelous... }:( |
