What to do today... drive out to Rochelle to watch trains in the snow, which has probably been cleared by now, plus it's too dang cold out there... drive to Michigan City for a model train show where they probably won't have anything I want and I can't afford to buy anything anyway... stay home and sort through papers, looking for the ones I need to get my taxes done... stay home, surf the net, and take a good nap (and then sleep poorly tonight)...

Poll: which one should I do, and which one will I do?

What I should have done: the third one. What I did: a variation on the first one. I was going to do the second, but by the time I got out of the house, and then went and bought a new rear wiper and put it on my car, I didn't have time to get there. So instead of going west to Rochelle, I went east to downtown and then south to Hammond, IN in search of Norfolk Southern heritage units. Found two of them, but in places ill suited to good photography. Had fun anyway. Car ran like a champ.

Now I just need to overcome the caffeine and get to sleep in time to be awake tomorrow.

Winning in the rain. Boy the ocean has been fun these last few days. Record high tides and record waves. Even a restaurant employee washed out to sea.

And about 100 feet of the Gaviota Pier gone.
