Yes, I admire her courage and sincerity. She was not afraid to Express publicly their point of view, but knew that today the Ukrainian authorities are able to deal with it. And she took the post of the Prosecutor of the Crimea, which was abandoned three men, who have lacked the courage.

One persons courage is another person's treason...In Russia she is hero, In Ukraine she is criminal.

Верховная Рада (Parlament) is besieged by Правый сектор. It's ultra-radical wing of maidan.
Very interesting... Main request is Avakov resign. Perhaps because few days ago extremist Sashko Belyj was killed at detention.
Looks like current "government" not radical enough and has not bad chances to be replaced by even more radical one...

I watch direct translation on TV - currently правый сектор stepped back. But they promised to come back. Will see if Yatsenjuk and Turchinov will surrender Avakov to please pravyj sektor or not... Really interesting turn of events.

Are we in for the biggest battle since 1945?

http://www.news.com.au/world/a-rapid-russian-buildup-of-tanks-and-troops-with-tough-talk-from-president-vladmir-putin-raises-fears-war-with-ukraine-could-be-imminent/story-fndir2ev-1226867240935

A rapid Russian build-up of tanks and troops with tough talk from President Vladmir Putin raises fears war with Ukraine could be imminent.

A senior military academic is warning Europe is staring down the barrel of its biggest war since 1945. And it could start in days, as Russian forces mass on the border with Ukraine — apparently poised to invade.

When will this idiocy stop?

:( And still the Ukrainian owner of our local off-licence doesn't know what has happened to his elderly mother. :( He bought her a little flat near the Black sea in what was the Ukraine's Crimea...

This is the "Official" Russian Government English translation of Putin's 'Annual Address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation'

April 25, 2005

"Above all, we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the century. As for the Russian nation, it became a genuine drama. Tens of millions of our co-citizens and co-patriots found themselves outside Russian territory. Moreover, the epidemic of disintegration infected Russia itself."

http://archive.kremlin.ru/eng/speeches/2005/04/25/2031_type70029type82912_87086.shtml

As I said in the beginning of this Board:

Look at the situation from Putin's perspective, not Western.

Maybe he should first, start thinking of moving the Tartars back to the Crimea, that's if they are alive.

"Berkut" already was completely undermined and dishonoured, will the same fate await "Sokol" now?

Oh, perhaps you missed Putin's speech regarding Crimea return. BBC posted it along with quite silly comments, but properly translated. So,UK peopels have luxury to read it fully, luxury that costed quite a lot for Ukrannian TV editor ;)
Crimean Tatars language will be state language there along with Russian and Ukrainian. Also, their full reabilitation was written in the law in Russia.
Hope you happy, that your concerns are void ;)

Again you need to read some history on Crimean demographics in the 20th century.
Deportation of the Crimean Tatars]
The state-organized and forcible deportation of the Crimean Tatars from the Crimean Peninsula by the Soviet Union in 1944 was ordered by Joseph Stalin as a form of collective punishment for alleged collaboration with the Nazi occupation regime during 1942-1943. The event is also known as Sürgünlik in Crimean Tatar (meaning "exile").

Although a 1967 Soviet decree removed the charges against Crimean Tatars, the Soviet government did nothing to facilitate their resettlement in Crimea and to make reparations for lost lives and confiscated property.

And? They were under Ukraine >20 years. It's whole generation. Ukraine was in USSR too. What your posts about treatment in USSR should prove?
You just cited common Russia and Ukraine history. And now you make some claims about bad tatars treatment from Russia. Again, read no so far history, little more recent than 1967 ;)

Though I wonder why moderators take no actions regarding clear international dissention posts from our Ukranian "collegue", these posts are quite good examples what Ukranian propaganda does with country population (though taking into account initial state of this person, perhaps we have bright example of западенец here).

In the face of country bancrupcy and when different groups in ruling forces continue armed confrontation, when almost half of country refuses to acknowledge those ruling forces at all, external enemy image just required.
No matter that salaries cutted, there is external enemy, no time to whine.

The single issue with such approach that nationalistic frenzy can't provide more bread not saying about butter ;)

There are some adequate politics inside Ukraine still.
Oleg Tsarev's point of view is quite good for example. He says that he will do all that he can that Ukraine remained single entity, but fully understand what actions are required for this; "Ukraine should not be mother for ones of its childrens and stepmother for others" (citing his interview). If he will go on elections maybe Ukraine still have a chance...

The only reason that Russia and Ukraine have a common history for the last 60 or so years is because after WW2 Russia virtually occupied all countries east of Berlin. Whereas we in the West returned all the countries back to their own peoples.

During that time nearly all the Tartars were expelled from their country because Stalin had some mistaken idea that they were traitors to the Russia although most of then had fought in the Red army.
