Greetings & Salutations!

I have an older dual processor(5365's) computer that one processor runs way way too hot. I have popped it out, lapped it, changed heat sink/fan, and used good thermal paste but the problem persists.
The other CPU runs just fine.
What I'd like to be able to do is only use the "good" processor for crunching and let the "bad" processor feed the GPU's. It behaves OK when not crunching.

It's not worth my time or money to track down another matched set of CPU's for this machine but I'd like it to feed the GPU's until my new rigs arrive late next week.

Any ideas how to do this?

Danke in advance

You will have to do it manually.

Or you can run two tasks on the gtx 650 and use both cores to feed the gtx 650.

Manually? I don't understand.
Also seems a waste to use all 8 cores just to feed the 850's.

Ah. I did not look far enough, yes, it is 8 core cpu.

That only leaves the manual assignment of cores option then. Something about affinity or some such. It seems some individuals have done stuff with that. I am not one of them. I hope they will explain it.

No, he has two Quad Core processors:

ProcessLasso will bind specific executables to specific cores. I think there is a free version. I have a powershell script that does it too but it's user unfriendly.

I'll check it out, if it's not free I may hit you up for the powershell version. I'm not unfamiliar with PS at all.

Process Lasso is free for your needs (CPU affinity adjustments)
http://bitsum.com/processlasso/

Only some features need Pro:
http://bitsum.com/howfree.php

"Persistent (Sticky) CPU affinities" is in free version.
I don't know what is "CPU Core Parking" (I use older version)
