Usually you would use the Preferences panel. Since you're running KDE 3.2 and that is not working, add the following at the end of "~/.kde/share/config/kboincspyrc":
>
> [General - Log]
> location=/home/rvirga/BOINC/logs
>
> [SETI@home - Log]
> location=/home/rvirga/BOINC/logs

(in the above, replace "/home/rvirga/BOINC/logs" with the directory you want use, and remove the quotes "> "). The general log will allow you to see the credits earned in the Credits Calendar window (works for other projects beside SETI@home), the SETI@home one will allow you to see details of the SETI@home workunits crunched in the Log window.
These files are in BoincLogX format, in case you run BOINC also on XP and want to aggregate the logs on both platforms.

Roberto,

I did as you said and edited /.kde/share/config/kboincspyrc

[General - Log]
location=/home/yusuf/seti/logs

[SETI@home - Log]
location=/home/yusuf/seti/logs

This is where my boinc core app. and seti client
are located, I can see the headings for the log,
but it displays no info about the wu's crunched.
I can see my "total credit" in the calendar, which
shows the same total for the days in December.

Joe,

KBoincSpy will log all the workunits that you finish crunching under its watch. It won't log retroactively work units which you have already crunched before you set up the log, nor any workunit that gets finished while KBS is not running.
So (a) give it time, and (b) leave it running.

Roberto,

I have finished a couple of workunits with kbs running, still nothing
in the logview. Am wondering, should I point the log file at the subdir.
"slots"? which contains the .sah files, or will kbs read that directory
anyway?

Does the directory "/home/yusuf/seti/logs" exist? KBS won't create the directory if it doesn't exist (using the Preferences dialog, one is allow to select only an existing directory), and it can't save to a non-existing directory. In my setup, I created the subdirectory "logs" beforehand to store all logs. You can choose to store the log file in the main directory ("/home/yusuf/seti" I imagine) or any other directory of your choosing, as long as it exists.
