Mark,
On behalf of everyone who has taken part in this year's "Kitties Auction" can I say a very big thank you. The real winner is SETI@Home, with pledges amounting to over three thousand dollars, brilliant Mark, and thanks again.

I tell ya what.
It was a close finish, something I never quite expected.
It has literally brought me to tears.

I am serious.

And crying.....LOL.

If I got to go to hell, I'm going there crunching Seti. For sure.

What changed?

Nothing except no one understood the way it was supposed to work
Because you DIDN'T increase your bid the $300 went to The Raccoons
But your intention was for GPUUG to win!!

I'm even more confused now. My team is GPUUG. I bid on GPUUG originally. There should be no ambiguity who I intended the pledges for.

Anyway it should be clear to the "officials". I gotta sign off now.

Message 1421622 - Posted: 28 Sep 2013, 21:01:02 UTC - in response to Message 1421584.

IF AND ONLY IF the total Raccoon Lovers bid is $1626 as I can't get an answer then I pledge $430. Otherwise if it's $1326 I leave my bid at $200.

As per Petri's statement, the 2nd place team would be given 300$ 1 minute before bidding ended.

At one minute before bidding ended, Raccoon's bid was indeed $1626. At this point, Mr. Kevvy's big would then be increased to $430.

Is this not so?

The winner will be determined by a game of semantics.

It's white smoke.

The GPUUG has won.
Actually, Seti was the true winner.
And that was my intent from the get-go.

Which means their bid was $1,626.

IF AND ONLY IF the total Raccoon Lovers bid is $1626 as I can't get an answer then I pledge $430. Otherwise if it's $1326 I leave my bid at $200.

I added $230 to my $200 initial bid. $1,397 + $230 = $1,627, $1 ahead.
I think Mark understood. I never saw the conditions on that $300 bid which is why I covered in case it was valid. I was on a tablet at a friend's place... can't exactly read all those pages.

Anyways, I've made my point and will abide by whatever decision is agreed on. If it goes to Raccoon Lovers although that's $430 less from me for SAH I've still earmarked a bunch for Green Bank for this year (hope I hear back finally on it) so no loss.

If there is no agreement then I think Dr. Korpela should be the ultimate arbiter.

at the time of his bid (and Mark didnt' say 20:22:00 and his post actually was edit 20>23:soemting) the raccoon lovers had the $300 from petri as it was less than 1 minute to end,. bringing the total to the 1626 Kevy specified as prerequisite for his raise.

I'm calling for indenpendent arbritration (however that's supposed to be spelled)

Sadly all the usual suspects seem to be on one of eiterh teams or have posted bids. Uli, sorry you have a bid going towards the Raccoon lovers - 'befangen'

As this seems to have become total confusion.

I suggest as it was Marks auction he decided the rules he should;d have the final decision.

I am sure all teams will abide by it.

I have no problem with outside arbitration on this.
Although I am at a loss to suggest the arbitrator.
I would have suggested Eric, but Angela has a iron in the fire.

Perhaps my....LOL....good buddy Fred might want to intervene/.
He has been my guiding light for some time now.......LOL.
