Well, IMHO, You did say the End was at 20:22 UTC.
The Questionable Bid was posted at 20:22:38 UTC

By my count, the last bid by Mr. Kevvy was late...by 38 seconds...

LOL, by a few seconds, within my specifications of by 20:22. By MY count.
And pardon me, but I don't see that you had an iron in the fire, my friend.
Mr. Tbar.
Did you? If so, I missed it.

I did not tie it so tight that seconds counted. Minutes did.

It's your thread, do as you wish. In Astronomy, 20:22 is not 20:22:38. Even if you round it off, it's still late...

Oh, Christ.
Now you are getting biblical on me.

I retreat to an outside arbitrator.
I made my decision. Now it's not good or defined enough.

As they say, WOW.

And let me get this part straight.......

TBar did not bid, did he?

That would make him a troll, eh?

Does anybody with a bid in the auction have a problem with the result?
If so, you have to let me know right now.

Yay GPUUG! I apologize that it had to be coloured with this confusion though but that's the way these things go sometimes. It's all for the project so I hope there's no resentment.

I would have suggested Eric, but Angela has a iron in the fire.

Ah crap... Dr. K has an iron in the fire himself! But he outranks everyone here. :^)

I'll wait a while until I call it settled and the squabbling is over and then pay up.

I doubt that dear Angela has any problem with the results.

If so, she shall contact me in due time, and I shall grant her any and all due discussion if required.

It's her call.

And I would certainly not deny her that.

Actually I think we should wait till Angela has had a chance to see the outcome. I doubt she will take kindly to squabbling!

I knew from the very start that the risk of this so called auction were to turn into something "rigged", was very high (due to knowledge I select to keep for myself). That's the reason I never entered any bids. I really wanted to enter a bid, but now I'm glad I didn't.

Which is why I didn't add my final bid till the auction finished

Dear Bernie Vine,

Thank you for your gift of $30.00 via Visa on 09/28/2013.
Your gift will benefit the following area:

SETI@home - $30.00

Your confirmation number is: 117711

I'm shaking my head wondering why the auction starter didn't react when strange conditions where introduced, and turned it into something else than an auction.

Not really fair as I do not think Mark was expecting it. Took me a while to see it could cause all sorts of problems.

Message 1421687 - Posted: 28 Sep 2013, 22:53:39 UTC - in response to Message 1421676.

This was not a normal auction where you bid simply over the other bidders. It was something else than an auction, and it started to fall of the normal auction rules, when petri33 introduced conditions for the bids, and really fell off the track when Mr. Kevvy introduced other conditions.

You simply do not enter conditions for your bid in an auction, the moment conditions enters into an auction, it is no longer an auction.

I knew from the very start that the risk of this so called auction were to turn into something "rigged", was very high (due to knowledge I select to keep for myself). That's the reason I never entered any bids. I really wanted to enter a bid, but now I'm glad I didn't.

I'm shaking my head wondering why the auction starter didn't react when strange conditions where introduced, and turned it into something else than an auction.

Now, feel free to start yelling at me, for regognizing when a straight auction turns into a rigged something else.
Look, Sten.
Nothing was rigged. The kitty auction was a living, breathing thing that took on it's own dimensions as it progressed.

I have done this several times over my years, and every time, it has been slightly different. Nothing was quite straightforward in any of them.
There has always been a twist.
I did not add the twist, the bidder did, and I came right out and stated where and how I would accept that bid, and stated my rules for it up front.

I dealt with it, my friend. Up front, for all to see and consider.
I don't even know the bidder. At all.
So any mention of 'rigging' is frankly insulting to me.
You get off your high horse now, Sten, or I'll be the one to kick you off of it.

I request an apology.

A sad end to a wonderful event. It's a shame it didn't last 48 hours longer as I can assure all that the Racoon Lovers would have won.

Do your best in kicking me then. You think I'm afraid of you, little drunk man? :-)

You will not get any apologies. I stand by what I said. I consider this a rigged auction.

Now then, start kicking me, or start drinking. Your choice.

Drink on account of your sorry comments? No, I have better reasons for that, none of which I choose to explain to you at this presentation.

You owe me two apologies now. One for the first comment, and one for calling me a 'little drunk man'.
You are falling behind in your apologies, man.
YOU, who fall all over me when I mess up/

Gee, it's kinda funny when a professed drinkist can at times apologize for his sins, and yet a Canadian Christian finds it hard to find the words.

I see the irony in that, you in da great white nort do not?

Mark hopefully Sten was not accusing you of rigging the auction.

If he was I would also demand he provides proof.

I also think it is time to let it go.

You have done more over the last few days than many of your detractors

They will now try and lead you out so you get banned.

'rigged' is a strong term. Sten-Arne is not a native speaker.

'Rigged' usually means that the result was preordained.

As Angela said this was supposed to be fun. If you can all stand down please until she's had a chance (probably not till late on Sunday), or I'm sure the mods will lock again, before the flaming starts in earnest.

It was not a sad end.
I think Angela, given her posts throughout, considered it a most joyous event.

I am currently crunching for the Raccoon Lovers out of respsect for their momentous achievements.

I shall do so for a week or two before I go back.

Ask Angela, if you do not believe me.

I personally shed tears as the auction drew to a close, but that was because I was stunned and awed by the response I got.

I can.

I have thick skin. I usually can take cuffs on the chin rather casually.
But this was very special event, and I took a little offense to anybody calling it 'rigged'.
You don't just piss me off and walk away spotless, understand?
I WILL take you down if you try to piss on my cheerios.

I will.

It's done now.. all OK. Don't broach the subject again, please.
