my athlon xp 2400+ runs at about ghz, i have 768 mb ram. I am doing each wu in under 4 hours, is this to be expected on my system? How would my athlon compare to pentium 4 2.4ghz???

Not exactly :))) P4 will produce more WUs because of its HT and faster memory access.
