Hi everybody,

i have a problem on my new Windows 8 machine:
Sometimes when i stop BOINC and restart it later, some Seti-CPU-tasks (not all and every time) don't restart on their latest percentage done (e. g. 75% done) but instead "loose" a lot of percentage and restart in an earlier state (e. g. 23% done) and crunch on from that point. In this case the elapsed time adds up correctly, only the percentage done is lost. This only happens to CPU tasks but not to GPU tasks.

Is there a BOINC issue, that the running tasks are "killed" to early and cannot completely write their state to the disk/SSD?

Any hints appreciated.

BTW:
I'm using BOINC 7.0.64 64Bit with the Lunatic 64Bit installer apps.

Aloha, Uli

Try enabling the <checkpoint_debug> log flag in cc_config.xml to see whether checkpoints are written at closedown.

Yes, checkpoints are written about every 1 - 2 minutes, depending on WU.

As i said, the WUs don't restart at the beginning, they start way back, for example it is stopped @75% and restarts @23%...

It does not sound like it has saved the checkpoint recently though, not if it loses that much processing.
