Well.... That would be Dave Van Ronk, of course. Dave's voice is one of the rare treats in this universe. Just so exceptional he was. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Well.... And this is a rather amusing bit from Dave. Concerning the song 'The house of the rising son'.... He gets rather amused at the end because in folk singing, all share, although some less willingly than others....LOL. What goes around, comes around. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." I have always had some fun taking liberties and amending such lyrics as I see fit for a jounce. Just a couple of phrases from one of my mind's wanderings...... The original song was The Black Velvet Band...... Ok, here's where my mind went off into the woods. "His eyes, they shined like the diamonds, you could tell he was queen of the land, and his pride hung out of his trousers, tied up with a Black Velvet Band. Now, he surely was pretty and purty, and the size up his gland was quite grand, but he always kept it somewhat curly, and tied up in that Black Velvet band. He said there were things that he fancied, but none known this time in this land. And so he danced with his fancy, that fine Black Velvet Band. His eyes, they shined like the diamonds, you could tell he was queen of the land, and his pride hung out of his trousers, tied up with a Black Velvet Band. His eyes, they shined like the diamonds, you could tell he was queen of the land, and his pride hung out of his trousers, tied up with a Black Velvet Band. He would twirl and whirl like the dervish, but to make sure it din't get out of hand, he always made sure that his girlish remained in the Black Velvet Band. His eyes, they shined like the diamonds, you could tell he was queen of the land, and his pride hung out of his trousers, tied up with a Black Velvet Band. I was sure that I'd made his sure friendship, and bought him a drink to be sure, but the moment I'd tossed it back, there was another one he had lured. His eyes, they shined like the diamonds, you could tell he was queen of the land, and his pride hung out of his trousers, tied up with a Black Velvet Band. Now, the Irish have always loved potatoes, but none such as fine as this fine young lad's. And he was never too shy to present them, after all the finest 'taters in the land........... His eyes, they shined like the diamonds, you could tell he was queen of the land, and his pride hung out of his trousers, tied up with a Black Velvet Band. One day, the barkeep, he took pity, and threw him quite out of this land. But the legend remains of the man, so to speak, and his casually outcoming gland. One day the Lord took him over, and I heard them speak, understand... He said, Son you are passing over soon, but leave behind that Black Velvet Band. Now....................................... The ending of that quite sad story, which I suppose is quite well known to you, Is get your own sorry ending, and I'll quite then quite bitching to you. His eyes, they shined like the diamonds, you could tell he was queen of the land, and his pride hung out of his trousers, tied up with a Black Velvet Band. This isn't on You Tube, but it's a site by Jerry Seinfeld, called, "Comedians in Cars, Getting Coffee". He basically goes to pick up a friend in a car he deems fit for their personality, and they go have coffee together, and talk about random stuff. Pretty simple. http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com The mind is a weird and mysterious place |
