I've searched the boards and this is an old question. However, I still can't make it work even after following all the advice. Some did say it doesn't work yet, but most of the posts were about older versions of BOINC. Both computers are running Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and BOINC 4.13. I am trying to set one to home and one to school. I went to the SETI server and set up separate preferences for Home and School. I went to the host computer list and set one for Home and one for School. Update both computers. No joy. It is still using Home preferences for both. I reviewed ALL my preferences and made them consistent. Update both. No joy. I deleted the Home preferences and set one host to default. Update both. No joy. I went to the CPDN server and did the same things. Update both. No joy. I've concluded this function just doesn't work. I've tried just about every combination I could think of. Is this a known bug or have I missed some essential step? RTFM is an appropriate response if you point me in the right direction. |

The same happened to me. Just look into your Client_state.xml if there is a line (host_venue)home(/home_venue) than change the value else add the line at the end. Replace the ( with arrow left BOINC Doc | Team-Site | BOINC-Podcast |

Thanks for both responses. They answered my question. I'll try the work around of the client_state.xml edit. EDIT: Changing the value in client_state.xml works great. Thanks for the tip. |
