help! installing x41zc

I like to think of myself as an advanced computer user, and I'm the guy friends and family always go to when they need help, but I'n not really *that* advanced. I downloaded the x41zc package and read the readme and I have no idea what to do with it.

I'm trying to install it on Yard, which has a brand new GT630 in it that has never done any Boinc work. The machine has never had optimized apps before. I no longer want the CPU to crunch, just the GPU.

Where do I put the files? What do I need in my app_info? Anything else that I don't even know enough to ask?

Unzip the Jason package into default boinc folder
C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu

I didn't wait for an answer, but went ahead and did it in the long folder path I asked about... and then forgot to rename the file to app_info.xml before I unsuspended all activity. So now I have 16 tasks for the standard app. I also have 10 tasks for Einstein... and one of them is already running HP. I'll let it run like this at least overnight before I go to the E@H site and change the prefs to allow 2 at once.

I changed the file and restarted Boinc Manager and it read the file, so I think I'm good there.

Perhaps a bit ironically, I got a lot of

If I don't have that folder, should I create it? Or should I use C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu ?

This is on Win XP Pro 32.

If I understand something I read somewhere correctly, those 16 standard app tasks will all error out. Should I abort them and try again with the new app?

The Nvidia manager was saying I had Cuda 4.2, so that was the package I downloaded, but now the Boinc startup messages say I have Cuda version 5000, so should I download the 5.0 app and install that over the 4.2?

No, you're running an app_info now, so those tasks will be completed by the app specified in the app_info (the website stats will say something different through),
you could always reset the project and get those tasks resent as anonymous platform tasks, report any completed tasks first!!

Well, I probably have to wait for a bunch of Einsteins to get done first. They're all due on 1/6, whereas the Setis are due on 2/8 and 2/13. But if I don't do it now, I may never do it.

To run 2 wu change all <count>1</count to <count>.5</count> if you have more than 767 mb of vram such as 1gb vram you can change to <count>.3</count> and it will do 3 wu in your app_info.xml file.

I found running 3 at time with 1GB OK, untill you start using other applications that make a fair amount of use of the Video RAM. Then everything comes to a grinding halt.
If you don't use the system for anything other than crunching then 3 at a time with 1GB of VRAM is OK, otherwise i'd stick with 2. If you've got more than 1GB of VRAM it's not an issue.

I've downloaded CUDA-Z to figure out which version of x41zc I should be using. It says the driver dll version is 5.0 and the runtime dll version is 4.20.

So should I download the 4.2 or 5.0 version?
