Hmmm.. maybe they are waiting for another result, because one of you three did the computation wrong (I think)

But I can't say that for sure.

Or could be just some hardware/software downtime at borkley. I was noticing just now that there seems to be a hold-up on my credit... should have increased again by now.

If there are no matches among the first three returns, BOINC is supposed to ask for more results. It has not been doing this. I and others pointed this out in the beta forum sometime around March I believe, and nothing was done about it until this week.

@littleBouncer,

Try "the tip of the iceburg" as an English translation, meaning "only the small part that shows above the water" (or "is not hidden").

Same here, or maybe worse. I have 57 pending WUs out there, from every month since July. As John MacLeod #7 says, it looks like the ones that didn't get 2 other matching results haven't been resent until this week.

Patience. Again.

@littleBouncer,

You're welcome, sir. It's been a long time since I had a class in German, but I can catch some of what is said/written.

Yes, but they do work to solve the problems. I've been a programmer (for almost 30 years). It's not easy to catch all of the bugs, especially with software on systems as diverse as ours. Even major mainframe OS's have a substantial number of critical bugs, some that are never fixed. Look at the list of APARs and PTFs for IBMs OS/MVS/ESA (the last mainframe OS on which I was a Systems Programmer) for example.

Not to be too critical, and while Murphy can get pretty low, that probably should be "Murphy's law." (GRIN)

I didn't wont critisize, I want only point on (maybe) failures. Also I was study programming (div. BASIC's, Assembler, Turbo Pascal, and last not least Modula 2 by King), but at this time (1980) I didn't had the fortune to work with. From 1996 to the end of 1999 I was a systemadministrator with a network (ethernet and Token-Ring) and with 150 Users (different OS's, Netware and Windows NT). After a big desaster I had "my nose full from computers" (german: Nase voll von Computern). Since 2 month I'm back on the road (internet) !!!

Very nice expression

Something completely different: When I saw the first time your picture (avatar) something inside me said to me:" You know this (excuse me) guy, but...I don't know whn , where , who..??"

@Renato,

I didn't really think you were criticizing.

My avatar is Richard Feynman, Physicist, 1965 Nobel Laureate in Physics, originator of the "Feynman Diagram," Teacher, safe-cracker, student, drummer, the one who brought forth the evidence of what was really responsible for the Challenger disaster (the o-ring seal, and the NASA bureaucracy), and many other things. My Hero.

Since you aren't a member of a SETI team, I invite you to join the "Richard Feynman" team ( http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/team_display.php?teamid=113745 ). The team also exists on LHC@home, Pirates@home, and, eventually, will exist on Einstein@home. You're welcome to join any or all of these teams.

Cheers,

Stephen
