I noticed on one of my machines that WUs beginning as in the title on my GTX 460s have the property that, although estimated by BOINC at a few minutes run for hours - the time remaining increases such that I had to abort a couple of them because they were running for 2 hours and still were nowhere near finished. Looks like it may be similar for other 20au.12aX.xxx, too. What's up with that? Are they stealth VLARs? How do I tell? Anyone else see anything like that? EDIT: FWIW, I forgot to mention that I first noticed this because the graphic card was running at a reduced temperature - as in 42C versus the normal 60C or so. It was still running about 700MHz, according to EVGA Precision, so it hadn't downclocked. |

Well, now, it seems that it was all a big screwup by the one graphics card... I restarted my computer, and now the card seems to be running WUs ok (I'll check again later to be sure). Apparently there was some kind of hangup in the card itself (memory leak, maybe?) that made the card run w/o doing much computation. The WUs seem to be counting down on time remaining, which is all I can hope for. (So I don't have much of a life; is that a surprise?). |
