Here is a picture that looks like a pretty good match.

Bena Casa makes one that looks a lot like the one you show and I have. It's also called a flying saucer press, a sandwich press, a campfire burger press, and a hobo pie maker.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... it looks like a mezzaluna, which is a curved (half moon) knife typically used for mincing large piles of fresh herbs.

Well it's not made for cutting cheese but it does. I guess any cutting tool does and no not a mezzaluna. I don't know the exact scale but it at least 14" across.

It looks like it is a part of a larger whole. It looks like the blade from a paper cutter. Perhaps it is for slicing meat?

If the hole isn't a pivot, then it must be for hanging it on a nail.

A mezzaluna is a knife consisting of a single or double curved blade with a handle on each end. It is often used for chopping herbs or very large single blade versions are sometimes used for pizza or pesto.

But didn't Angela already say herbs? I'm just adding "sometimes used for pizza".

I did say it cuts cheese and that it cuts meat both of those are usually on Pizza! The place where I got the picture did not call it a Mezzaluna. They called it a Pizza Cutter. Angela threw me off when she used the term as a knife for chopping herbs. If she had said Mezzaluna alone I would have looked up the term and she would probably be the winner, but since she added her own definition which limited the term to an herb cutter... I have to award it to you.

Very many thanks for the PM Carlos, appreciated. But I would never ever have known that it was called a Mezzaluna, without Angelas post. I therefore think that she should in all fairness be awarded the win. She was so close anyway with herbs.
