This Former Defense Minister has been smoking something? There’s nothing quite like a former high-ranking official giving credence to conspiracy theories to kick off a work week. http://fusion.net/modern_life/story/aliens-exist-canadas-defense-minister-358002 'Aliens Exist' Says Canada's Former Defense Minister |

Maybe he's getting ready to promote a book on the subject. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

What I do wonder though, if they visited us in 11000 BC, why haven't they done it again since then or why didn't they just stay for that matter? A luscuous and fertile planet like ours could be hard to find throughout the Universe, we haven't encountered any planet like ours thus far... rOZZ Music Pictures |

What I wonder is if they visited us in the past, how is it even possible that they left no obvious traces behind. I have trouble buying into the idea that they were that careful not to leave some advanced technology behind for which we wouldn't be able to explain due to it's age. |

Well there are plenty of ancient rock paintings on all continents of the world that look to depict aliens and their spacecraft with some dating back to almost as far as 50,000yrs ago. Depictions are also found in more modern artwork (including carvings and statues) and tapestries up to the 17th century (after this time aliens may have thought that we were getting to advanced for regular open visits). So it certainly could be possible that we have been visited before on many occasions in our past. Cheers. |

Rock paintings aren't exactly advanced technology. I thought most people were in agreement that anyone that sees what looks to be depictions of alien spacecraft were merely looking at a Rorschach test. Paintings which could represent something specific to the original artist but almost anything else to people thousands of years later is hardly proof positive. |

"Proof positive" wasn't mentioned, just the "possibly of proof" was. ;-) Cheers. |

Eh, and that's where my problem lies. A "possibility of proof" will be taken as proof (and has been taken as proof) for so many that the bar for proof starts to fall so low as to allow credibility to conspiracy theories. I don't see cave paintings as a possibility of proof any more than the Shroud of Turin. |

Well that's your problem then Ozzfan, for myself, I'll just keep an open mind on the whole thing. ;-) Cheers. |

Ummm... ok. But the last part of your statement is a frustratingly unnecessary comment. It implies that people who are skeptical, like me, are somehow not open minded. Truly a non-sequitur. It merely means my expectation of proof is considerably higher. |

Shroud of Turin. Truly meant for me :( |

What? No it wasn't. <sigh> It wasn't meant for anyone specific. It was a random example. |

The Turin shroud has been examined and dated many times and the general consensus is that it is medieval. It is what it represents that is important, not so much the genuineness of it. If a thing is not genuine, then surely it is not important for what it is supposed to represent. |
