Some illustration to the need of free core for recent ATi drivers:

When I set to use only 3 CPUs for BOINC of 4 available (A10 Trinity APU) GPU load becomes stable maxed and GPU downclocking disappeared...

And here back to all 4 cores busy and revert to 3 busy again:

Effect quite impressive and reproducable.

And, btw, GUI became more laggy when I freed one core. Interesting effect of full GPU load :)

I found that too when upgrading to a NVIDIA GTX 650 with Astropulse GPU: Better use of the card if I free one CPU. The Astropulse NVIDIA takes a full CPU to run on my slow computer.

Please wait a few more days. We're having a little bit of difficulty with the 'Brook+' applications required to run on the ranges of ATI cards unable to run OpenCL - of which, yours is one.

Boy can I attest to that. I go one step further and end up using SIV to lock each CPU task to it's own core (I'm using an A8-3820 so older K10 cores) which helps to keep the GPU at full speed as otherwise I've seen it get lazy at not run at 100%.

Oh and I'm confused about this thread.

Lunatics V0.41 installed AP6_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_ATI_r1843.exe as my AP6 GPU app. But r1363 is newer?

Edit: OOOPS! Didn't see the original post date on this thread. Thought it was somehow related to the all the new apps. Nothing to see here, carry on.

Try looking in "number crunchers" where there may be some information about issues with ATI GPUs.
Since this thread was started there has been a major release, and there is some on-going work on getting things working correctly.

This is a question that should be asked in the Number Crunching forum, not in a news post.

Cheers.
