S@H keeps sending me tasks but they are all ghost tasks. I have over 70 of them and therefor I am not running any tasks. I have streched the request for work to be received to 10 days but they all end up as ghosts.

What can I do?

It is caused by network problems - typically at the server end. There is nothing you can do to fix the problem - larger queues can make it worse instead of better.

Hi,
I haven't received any work for S@H for nearly 4 days. It's been running fine up until now. Requests for update defer communications for 5 minutes. Is this an S@H thing or possibly BOINC?
Ideas?

Thanks
Seer

The lack of work would be a SETI problem. The 5 minute deferral is normal. Each project can request a backoff to reduce the hammering that the servers can take while everyone is asking for work. There are two separate backoffs for updates / work requests. The server side enforced backoff and the client side suggested backoff. Attempts to connect before the server side enforced backoff will merely generate a response that it was too soon to contact the server. The client side suggested backoff is a random exponentially increasing backoff. This is used to reduce the hammering that the server can take by assuming that if the server did not respond in the last N time, it may not respond in the next N time either. NOTE: This last one has a cap that is dependent on the version of the client.
