On my machine FermiBox2 (ID 6609248) I am running BOINC 7.0.25 and the latest Lunatics apps, with all settings as on my other (6.10.56, -.60) machines. Despite requests for "CPU and NVIDIA" (machine has 2 x GTX 480 and 1 x GT240) I have gotten NO CPU WUs at all. This has been going on for several days now.

Why don't I get any CPU WUs?
Is there something I don't know?
Is it a fault of some kind in 7.0.25?

I've had that problem the last couple of weeks or so on all my machines with older Boinc versions too. I have to untick the box "Use NVIDIA GPU", on the SETI@home preferences page for all venues in question. And then when I have enough CPU work, re tick the box again. Repeat when low on CPU work again, and again...

Edit: This is not something new, it has happened on and off for several years. Sometimes it can work as intended for months, and then suddenly I have to start using the tick/untick trick for weeks again.

Thanks for the suggestion. I switched to the "School" profile which I set to CPU yes, NVIDIA no. But now I am getting "not asking for new tasks" on Update. Is there no end to the perfidy?

Let it sit there and ponder its sins for a while. I'm sure it will start asking for CPU only when it has thought over its bad behaviour.

It better shape up fast - I'm going away on an 8 day vacation tomorrow, and it has barely one day's worth of GPU work and NO CPU work, and I have it set for 5 days work buffer, which it is no where near.

Maybe I should break out the whips I got for Xmas.

It just gave you 7 CPU units. See, threatening with punishment helps :-)

Yeah, it did. But they won't finish. I'm well into "Project backoff" already.

BOINC giveth and BOINC taketh away..

Thanks! The proxy did it (for now) with some liberal exercise of my "Retry Now" finger.

I don't know if you have any other projects attached to that particular machine. These are the buffer settings that I have on both of my machines and I have not had any problems getting work. There are times when some tasks have gone to HP, mainly because I'm watching a DVD or playing a game, but I don't worry about it. The last 3 lines in the bottom image shows tasks waiting to run. I'm also running 80% of the computer 6 active cores & 2 for GPU processing, with the GPUs running 2 tasks each.

I don't buy computers, I build them!!

My home computer is now not asking for anymore work even though it has run out. Currently running Milkyway, all I am getting is this.

4/15/2012 12:15:15 PM | SETI@home | update requested by user
4/15/2012 12:15:20 PM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
4/15/2012 12:15:20 PM | SETI@home | Not reporting or requesting tasks
4/15/2012 12:15:34 PM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed

Any ideas on what is going on?

WELL I ran out of GPU WUs - now I've switched back to the profile ("home") that allows both CPU and GPU. So now BOINC won't ask for more WUs when I try an update.

Not the ideal, smooth process, is it?

PS: I'm running only SETI

I never switch between profiles, I just tick and untick the boxes in the profile I have for the computer in question. It seems from what I have seen, that switching profiles, makes it harder to get SETI to understand wtf you're up to. (edit, added: Or at least it takes longer for the project to get you the work you want....)

GREAT!
