Oh wow! I got a _3 AP this morning and was looking at the history on it. Someone running stock app in Linux actually completed it without error! http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=931698450 I didn't think it was possible. Someone running stock app in Linux actually completed it without error! http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=931698450 Perhaps it is just a matter of updating some lib to get it to work with the code they are sending out. From my experience in the nix world that is normally required for 99% of software you want to run. I have run into situations where I had to update libs in order to update libs to update libs. To the point it really wasn't funny anymore. From the build information it looks like the OS is some versions of VMware. I wonder if the default configuration had everything required to work correctly or if they have updated lots of things. Something still seems wrong. RAC has been flat or falling on for the last four days, even on machines which didn't run out of work during the last outage Host 2909037 is still producing inconclusive, then invalid work, that won't help your RAC stay stable. Claggy |

Talking of AP and rac... if you configured your computers for MB now (before you run empty), your rac would go UP, you know that... Edit: at least try it on your i3. I noticed significant improvement when I switched from AP to MB-only on my mobile i5 (32bit Winblows 7) - went from ~3000 to 3500. Possibly has to do something with latest lunatic Intel_SSE3 applications and the fact that kreditnew is awarding less and less for APs plus OpenCL apps are totally messing the credits, too. Minor improvement on i7-920 (64bit Linux). Others (Core2-like), no change. Also, keep in mind that "evil" MB is THE seti@home ;) |

Looks like Crickets have taken a hit, DB queries per second are up and replica is falling behind. Bad sign ?? Dave |

Talking of AP and rac... if you configured your computers for MB now (before you run empty), your rac would go UP, you know that... Stubborn, you say? Here's temptation for you. The AP v6.01 CPU app for Windows was just put into the Beta project. Eric said he had to sort out some problems first (that's alpha testing): now he just has to get some reliablity under its belt. And give some exercise to the new validators, too. If all that goes smoothly, this would be the same application that is transferred here. So not much risk there. The more that test it, the sooner the transfer happens. How about it? |

Looks like Crickets have taken a hit, DB queries per second are up and replica is falling behind. Yeah, things took a dive for a couple of hours there, but it appears to have settled down again, for now. Grant Darwin NT |

Talking of AP and rac... if you configured your computers for MB now (before you run empty), your rac would go UP, you know that... Apologies for the off-topic. Got a couple of 6.00 from beta yesterday after two months of Boinc asking for work. Back to on topic, I'd like some astropulses over here to be split. Looks like Crickets have taken a hit, DB queries per second are up and replica is falling behind. Looks like i spoke too soon. Network traffic has dropped way off again. Either getting "HTTP internal server error", "Can't connect to server" or "Project has no tasks available" messages whenever i try to contact the Scheduler. The chance of getting any work is pretty much none. Grant Darwin NT |

Looks like Crickets have taken a hit, DB queries per second are up and replica is falling behind. Hopefully it's just a cron job or something that will resolve itself. At least work had been flowing fairly well and most of my rigs are at the limits, so the kitties have enough kibble to crunch for a bit. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." "The AP v6.01 CPU app for Windows was just put into the Beta project." Richard, Is the Lunitics V6 r540 app the same as the new "stock" V6 ? or should we run "stock" ? Dave |

Well this was terrible and nerve wracking. I just attached three of my hosts to Beta. All of them got some AP 6.01, but only my Q8200 is running any of them yet. My other two hosts have to work on some of the WU's they have on main first it seems. At times I wonder who this is? http://www.funny-haha.co.uk/Joke.asp?J=281 |

"The AP v6.01 CPU app for Windows was just put into the Beta project." Because this is a brand new application (even if a relatively minor change from v5.05), and new validators need to be exercised, there is a significant need for stock results to be shovelled through the system. That form of testing provides the foundation layer that subsequent optimisation can build on. The state of play with regard to testing optimised apps: r540 is history. When I posted, r550 was current. The latest build for testing (at the time of writing) is r552 I can't exactly remember at what point in the sequence the v6.01 variant was introduced. That code specification was only introduced on 27 February 2012 - any build older than that will mess up the validator checks. Best to discontinue using it. |

That time of the day again, red-ray? I guess it was the text and not the popup being the subject. |

OK, not using r540, I am using stock at the moment. To receive Beta AP and not Beta V7, how should preferences be set ? Dave |

My other two hosts have to work on some of the WU's they have on main first it seems. I was once asked to drive urgently half across the county - none of the client's employees could print to the shared network printer. Parked, climbed two flights of stairs, walked through the main entrance door - and diagnosed the problem in two seconds flat, with one glance. Two loose BNC cable-ends lying on the floor, next to the desk where the receptionist's computer had been... |

Well, this weekend I will have to celebrate my all time high RAC. Next weekend or thereabout it will start dropping like a stone, until new AP's are available. And then it will take months again to come back up to the RAC I have now. You could always run the Nyan cat screensaver to relieve the stress of not having APs http://download.cnet.com/Nyan-Cat-Screensaver/3000-2257_4-75448887.html |

OK, not using r540, I am using stock at the moment. My guess: SETI@home v7: no Other applications: yes For completeness, SETI@home Enhanced, Astropulse and Astropulse v5 all no - though you should only get the very occasional resend from those, anyway. Joe did remind Eric that the page needs updating, but I guess Saturday overtime rates didn't extend to that... |

I had an urgent phone call not long back about a printer just down the road that suddenly stopped printing. I walked 4 doors down the road and seen the problem as soon as I walked in the room, the printer didn't have the USB cable connected to the PC (is that suppose to be plugged in? she said). :( Cheers. |
