I realized that trying to crunch AP only is totally counterproductive and futile. Just accept all WUs and let the scheduler decide what to send you (which will be MBs). Forget that it even exists.
I used to crunch AP only, too, on a few machines. They were constantly running out of work, even with a 10 day cache.
Whenever there are some problems with the servers (and that's always...), AP is the first project that gets the shaft, either splitter or validator, for weeks.

So I've got it setup now on one of my rigs to try. The CPU is running AP's only and the GPU MB's. Only my CPU only has 1 AP to work on. Since its a Duel Core chip, I'm wondering if it will speed up that 1 AP?

Looking around it looks like the Astropulse v505 are huge files as well, I'm running 1 right now on my CPU and its say time remaining 163 hours!

Can AP's be ran on the GPU as well, or only on CPU?

That's just an estimation, Once you're completed 10 Validations the <rsc_fpops_est> for each Wu will be scaled to suit your device (when it's working properly that is)

Yes, there are ATI and Nvidia OpenCL AP apps out, but they are both limited to what drivers are recommended, eithier Cat 11.6 and lower, or Nvidia 26x.xx series,

No, an E8400 has 6MB Cache, that's more than enough for that CPU (I was running my E8500 @4.14GHz, i never noticed any slow down when running 2 AP at a time, but running Cuda and OpenCL apps did cause greater elapsed times,
the T8100 also doesn't show any speedup when running only one AP, my Atom N450 is a different matter, that does run AP tasks faster when only doing one at a time)

It's nice when there's no APs to max the bandwidth, MBs download with up to 120kb :)

I had a bluescreen (in win7) when I started BOINC, it lost the SETI project and all 500+ WUs. So after I reattached SETI I'm close to a full cache again.

Dunno what that was about, but I think it's back now...
Just saw my top rig get and download a handful of new WUs.

Hopefully no more conniptions from the servers.

Could someone explain "Splitter status"?

What is a splitter and what does it do?

A weekend without new AP's, is like coffee without sugar and cream.

LOL

Cream, sugar, scotch, bourbon, vodka, even chocolate syrup. I don't care what you add to coffee, I can't stand it. Yuck.

I have slightly more tolerance for AP -- I allow it when no MB is available.

Soon they'll have 6 more 3TB Astropulse transport drives thanks to our donors...well...once we can actually find them for sale.

Looks like we are not destined to have any Aps this weekend.

I sure don't want to switch my 11 Ap only crunchers to MB.

The kitties only took 3, when the scheduler couldn't find any MB kibble.
