I always thought that the mapping of IP-addresses to names has to be unique.

How is the SETI-setup

208.68.240.13 boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu
208.68.240.18 boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu

(according to nslookup) then working?

Is there an understandable explanation for a non IP-expert like me?

Thanks in advance

Mad Fritz

.13 and .18 are a "shared" service...the download servers.

Common industry practice for them to have the same name.

Posts can't be deleted - but you can use the red-x button at the bottom of your post to flag it for a moderator and ask for it to be hidden.
Or you can edit to 'please delete' or suchlike and any mod through will take care of it. It's better to use the red-x though.

And now that it has been asked and answered, it is unlikely it will be deleted as others might find the answer useful.

A dumb question whose answer is useful... well, thanks. I really mean that honestly, thanks.
