Does anybody know of any web sites that provide a good introduction to programming C++, kind of a programming for idiots guide?

I put my back out yesterday, and it looks like I might be stuck in this bed for a while, thought I would put the time to good use.

I see that you in the U.K. It might cost more in mailing expenses than what you can buy it for over there.. But never the less, my offer stands.

when I first started learning C++ (long ago, like 15 yrs) there was a simple computerized tutoring course I bought (an interactive program), I think that would be good. These days there are plenty of websites such as:

http://www.cprogramming.com/begin.html

I don't think you can just lie in bed and read and read about programming, I think it's best to have a laptop and go through an interactive session (CD-ROM or DVD) where you can jump out and try things out right there in a compiler etc.

Very kind of you to offer, Admiral. But international postage is expensive! I can probably pick something up locally (when I can walk more than 5 steps without screaming).

Thanks for the links everybody, I will check them out.
