Message 1152868 - Posted: 16 Sep 2011, 19:55:29 UTC

Since ca 10 days i got no task for my ATI GPU with Lunatics apps.
If i allow CPU i get some work, but they were crunched with 6.03 CPU app.
If i disable CPU i get nothing !?
Is there something changed ?

nope I've been seeing on a couple of My PC's that I get massive amounts of AP on 1 none on another. I also get loads for the CPU on one yet run out of GPU.

I'd try using the BOINC rescheduler so you can at least balance your WU load without worrying about receiving more work

I haven't gotten anything at all in over a week. They have only sent me 4 total. Wonder what gives?

Edit: Referring to ATI GPU.

Who do I have to bribe to get a load of 20 AP's to keep this box busy for more than 5 hours.
I like to load it up and then go away for a while but now I have to keep looking at it every couple of hours.
Please, someone hit me with a wad of stuff.

Max: go back to 6.10.58. For some reason 6.12.xx seems to just stop asking for more work.

It has nothing to do with Boinc 6.12.
I´m running 6.12.22 and still fetching work.

I´m just trying a couple things.

The feeder only holds 100 tasks at once and is continuosly being refilled, if when you ask for work it is empty, then you won't get any work, you'll just have to wait the 5 minutes and 3 seconds before you can try again,
there is work out there to be got, and you have had GPU work from here in the last 10 days.

Edit: you snagged a GPU task within minutes of posting.

Because your HD57** also has tasks at PrimeGrid, it is possible your cache is full, and is only getting an occasional top up from here,
to see how much work you're requesting make a cc_config.xml file with the following in it, drop it in your Boinc Data directory, and get Boinc to read the config file:

<cc_config>
   <log_flags>
       <sched_op_debug>1</sched_op_debug>
    </log_flags>
</cc_config>

I got a re-fill at 06:30 UTC with no problems. Times in manager are local I'll let you work out the time difference.

edit] Just got another batch of 16 at 09:13 UTC, 12 for the gpu and 4 for the cpu.

Yes, i got ONE task a few minutes after posting... ONE, after 2 Minutes it was finished.

I also have PG tasks.. thats right ( otherwise GPU is sleeping )
I also think about the cache but if i stop PG and let PG units dry out, i also get no Seti work, or maybe 1 or two tasks... only

There has also been a change server side that has screwed up the to completion time estimates, see the following thread:

Shorties estimate up from three minutes to six hours after today's outage!

And also the Request issues thread.

In some cases, caused by the server problems, BOINC will only request work when everything you've been issued has been completed - and even then, only one second of work at a time.

Is that one second of crunching time or one second of observation time - BIG difference.

One second of crunching time. But you can't get anything smaller that one task, so depending how you're set up, that could turn out to be a 90-second GPU shorty, or a 20-hour CPU AP.

I dont understand anything from that stuff :)
I only want to let my GPU crunch PG and seti 50-50% thats all.
It works fine all time... but now i get 3 seti tasks per week...
Luck for PG :)

I don't seem to be getting any GPU work on my nvidia 8400GS (I know...not a workhorse). I don't get any acknowledgement in my log file that I am requesting any even though I have GPU turned on in the Boinc manager. Yet, one of my 4 cores is idle when I set GPU to yes. My GPU meet minimum rquirements and I have the right driver.

So, would I be better off, turning GPU to no?

Have you turned it on in your SETI@home preferences too?

Do you have a section in your app_info.xml for CUDA tasks and have you downloaded/installed a CUDA application?
