After concreting, wire brushing and painting this morning I am now going to sit back and enjoy a schooner or 2 (maybe 3 or 4 even) of my home brewed Coopers Lager. ;)

Cheers.

I say old chap, a "schooner" in the UK is more properly used for a large sherry.

Although I am aware that the Aussies also use that term for 15 Fl Oz beer glasses.

Aussie Schooner

I dunno, flipping colonials :-))

Schooner glasses are the standard drinking vessels used in this state but for those with weak arms (or very slow drinkers) there's the 10oz (285ml) "Middy" and though some places still have pint glasses (570ml) the beer gets too warm before you finish it (yes we like our beer well chilled down here). :D

Cheers.

Well I must say that this weekend has started out very well. Now I'll just have a rum & coke (or 2) before I pass out. LOL

Cheers.

Never noticed any Australians struggling with pint glasses in HK and Singapore, I'm sure the glass was empty before the beer had a chance to get warm.

Today's job for me is getting into my brewroom and bottling 6 dozen 750ml bottles of Coopers Lager, tomorrow will be putting down another 58L brew. :D

Cheers.

Peltier cooler in the stein, induction bar top, perpetually cold beer.

Patent pending.

Really comfy with Stella right now, The Red Tide marches on. Smug, well yes. Well, it is the Old Enemy. Triple Crown at Twickenham. First ever.
That's enough to drive a Welshman to drink. :-)
Bless Lloeger, they almost had us.

Beer should always be drunk from a glass container
Tins, cans and the like might be OK for some lesser beverages, but the best of beers deserves a good quality glass drinking vessel of adequate volume.

There is no other way to drink beer properly!! Having a "tinny" in Oz is just so infra dig these days ....

Yep, I know. Trouble is, where I grew up, most of the dimpled glasses were smashed. On peoples heads/faces.
That's the way it was.

I had a few tinnies yesterday though I prefer to drink out of stubbies when I'm not at home, but at home I prefer schooner glasses.

Tomorrow I'll bottle that 58L brew that has now finished bubbling.

Cheers.

There's nothing better than knocking back a few lagers with a few mates in the shed (mind you at 22m x 7.5m my shed is bigger than a lot of homes around here) and today (Sunday here) the 1 day cricket will be on (Aussies v's the Indians) to keep us entertained so it's very likely that a bit more than a few will be sunk but I may have to throw a few pieces of wood in the old potbelly as it's pretty cool here just now (so much for global warming when you have to do that in summer, in fact I think we totally missed summer this year).

Cheers.

Sounds as if the weather systems are totally "to cock", as we sort of missed winter up here.
Good luck in the cricket - those Indies could do with getting a lesson from a second rate team ;-)

Yeah the last 2.25yrs the weather has been very cool and wet here. :(

ATM the Indians arn't looking to good at 6/118 after 31 overs against our 253 (update 7/127 in the 33rd). :D

But don't get to cocky with the "second rate" bit as we've beaten you fellows far more times than you've beaten us and our new young team should be finally tuned up by the time we meet you guys again next year. ;)

[Edit] Well the Indians went down hard losing by 87 runs in the 39th over giving us another bonus point and putting us in the finals so India will have to pull off a miracle against Sri Lanka by getting a bonus point plus a record score to make it (which they have yet to do here). [/Edit]

Cheers.

Well it's only a few more hours to go here until the almost usual Friday night activities (except for the Australia v.s Sri Lanka ODI) so the liquid amber will be flowing well again (and I dare say some spirits as well).

P.S. Last Tuesday night here India actually pulled their finger out and actually beat Sri Lanka plus they picked up a bonus point as well so Sri Lanka has to either beat or draw against us tonight to lock India out of the finals (ATM they're not doing so well so far).

Cheers.

Just cracked a fresh brewed batch of Mister Beer. This is beer making for complete dummies. You buy a 2 litre plastic bottle of wort for $5, which comes with a taped-on plastic baggie containing a gel cap of yeast, a venting cap, and sometimes a gel cap of finishing hops. Pop in the gel caps, screw on the venting lid, put it in a dark corner, and drink it 2 weeks later. Even I can manage that. Their Pils, with the extra hops, is great!

Pretty much with any homebrew wort it will tell you that it can be drunk in 2wks but I'll tell you now that it will still be very green.

I've been brewing my own for over 22yrs now and I will not touch a brew that is less than 2mths old but on average here I drink mine usually around 8mths of age and the difference in taste is big I can tell you so let it age properly. ;)

[edit] On a side note, keep the brew somewhere where you can keep it the temp between 20-30C, below 20C it will start to hibernate taking longer to brew or above 32C can kill the yeast. ;) [/edit]

Cheers.

Been there done that Wiggo. I started making wine in 1976, and beer in 1980. This stuff is not meant to be great beer, just easy beer. No racking, bottling, etc. Just chuck in the pills, drink two weeks later. I'm not sure this stuff would improve much without being racked, and that spoils all the ease of it. The volume produced is also much easier to handle. 2 litres at a time.
