LAN for a single BIONIC account

Each computer on your LAN acts as its own client. Simply install the BOINC software and attach using the same information for all three as Gundolf the Wise suggested, and each computer will perform its own work fetch.


What you may have been mistakenly lead to believe is that you can create a cluster out of all the PCs on your LAN and used the combined power of all three to crunch. Such a configuration is possible, but it also requires specially compiled software to take advantage of such a setup, and BOINC is not coded to take advantage of clusters. In fact, a cluster is counter-intuitive to the BOINC goal of using spare CPU cycles that you wouldn't otherwise be using.

For example, a user who comes home after work and checks his email or plays a couple games might let the spare, unused cycles to be put toward science such as SETI@Home. When they're done, they can turn off their computer and do it all over again the next day. The computer would have been powered on anyway, so no extra "waste" cycles were created.

Creating clusters or having extra computers crunch is, of course, up to the user to decide if they want to contribute (look at my account, I have several PCs), but more than what any project actually asks for. Such a cluster that is otherwise unused for other tasks and is created for the sole purpose of crunching is creating extra waste cycles and therefore is out of the scope of the stated goals of BOINC and all it's projects.

[Edit] PS - I don't know if you typo'd twice, but the software is called BOINC, not BIONIC. I don't mean to be a stickler, but it may become an important distinction if another software ever gets created with the BIONIC name.
