Message 1102855 - Posted: 2 May 2011, 21:38:28 UTC

So, I have a Sun Blade 1500 (silver) running S10 u9 and everything else I have used (outside of SETI) has been fine.

I followed the direction from http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/BOINC%20Clients.html and it installs fine.

Now, when I fire it up, I get an odd error message about the data dir.

bash-3.00$ ./boinc_client

I am running OpenSolaris Express as a guest OS via VirtualBox on my Linux host. My Data directory is /home/tullio/opt/boinc. Maybe you don't have permission to use /opt/boinc.

The message "ioctl(SIOCGIFARP): Invalid argument" can been ignored. This happens sometimes on newer Solaris releases.

Btw. you are using the offical SETI application version 5.12. This version is still valid, but on my homepage(www.dotsch.de/seti) are newer SETI Enhanced and Astropulse application for a manual installation available.
