Message 1080225 - Posted: 22 Feb 2011, 0:49:49 UTC - in response to Message 1080220.

Sorry absolutely useless at networking issues so have no idea what that means.

Well, I'm sorry, but I'm a day-shift sort of person, and half-past midnight in the same time-zone as you isn't really a safe time to start your first tutorial in networking.

If you're up all night, I'm sure there's an American network tutor around who'll be able to talk you through it: otherwise, I suggest we both stop worrying about it overnight, and pick up in the morning if it's still not sorted then.

Message sent, I sent it via my domain smtp server.

Messages go through on this end too, via internap's dns, Google's dns, and Charter's dns. Appears you are having dns issues on your end. Change your dns server to either Google dns(8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4), opendns(208.67.222.222/208.67.220.220), or bother your ISP about it. You may also need to find alternate dns's that are closer to your location or faster check out GRC's DNS Benchmark, pretty nice solution to finding the right match. Surely one of the one's it suggests will solve your name resolution issue.

Now up/downloads are working. Don´t know why yesterday nothing worked.
Thanks for trying to help me. But I feel in the forum like a frog trying to talk to ET, you talk about DNS, hosts etc. and I only understand "Quaaaak". But I attempt to learn...

Are you sure it's not your end, Richard? I'm getting no problems up, down or reporting (and have uploaded 2 since your post).

Mine was on reporting - and I went to look specifically, because of the big drop on the Cricket graphs. That wasn't just me, honest :-)

But the reports have gone through now, so we seem to be back in business.

Has someone noticed that the List of recently connected client types on the Server Status Page
was not updated since the big Crash in October? Forgotten? :D

Don't you know the Cricket World Cup is on at present? I think the graphs are keeping one eye in uploading and downloading with the other on a satelite TV!

I think it got washed out into San Francisco Bay over the weekend :-)

Back now, if a little sea-sick, thanks.

Nope. That seems to be a DNS problem. Did you reboot your computer and DSL router recently?

I don't run it 24/7 so it gets rebooted every day.The thing that doesn't make sense is that all the other projects are working fine its just seti that won't work.

I see your using W7, so try edit or make a file called "hosts" which is in \WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\

Enter these lines save it and stop/start Boinc and see if it works...

127.0.0.1 localhost

208.68.240.16 setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu
208.68.240.20 setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu
