Sorry for the slow response but I had to see my doctor and then I had dialysis and just got home. @ Heli I made my cc_config file with your spacing exactly. I restarted seti and now the error message disapeared I also created and inserted my app_info file and looks like this I got the first part from perryjay I got the second part from seti web site. @ perryjay I run the Lunitacs unified installer and it did not give me app_info file in this location on my hard drive. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC Where can I find oneI have win xp 32bit intel i7 and 460 card which I custom built a couple years ago except for the card I just got yesterday. Do I need the astropulse stuff in the app_info file since I run the unified installer from Lunitics? Thanks for the help. <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>608</version_num> <platform>windows_intelx86</platform> <plan_class>cuda</plan_class> <avg_ncpus>0.040000</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>0.040000</max_ncpus> <coproc> <type>CUDA</type> <count>1</count> </coproc> <app> <name>astropulse</name> </app> <file_info> <name>astropulse_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>libfftw3f-3-1-1a_upx.dll</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>ap_graphics_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>astropulse</app_name> <version_num>435</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>astropulse_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>libfftw3f-3-1-1a_upx.dll</file_name> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>ap_graphics_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> <open_name>graphics_app</open_name> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_version> |

On one of my machines with dual cards all it took was creating a cc config with the "<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>" options set. Then if you want to run more than one WU at a time on each card you would change the "<count>1</count>" in the app info to .50. As far as the app info for the lunatics install here is what mine looks like: <app_info> <app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name> </app> <file_info> <name>AK_v8b_win_x64_SSSE3x.exe</name> <executable/> @ -BeNt- Remember that the .5 setting will change it to run 2 WU's at a time on each card, not use both cards. I lost track of where you were on fixing your issue I know at one time you could only get one card running. Best of luck! Traveling through space at ~67,000mph! |

@ -BeNt- Yeah I got the cc_config file when I was running 2 cards. I left it where it was I have 1 card now the 460. And the app_info file is working ok now so thanks a lot it works! |

Well, I've gone from 165000 units on Jan 11 to 280000 as of yesterday. Nothing happening today, of course. It's odd to see I'm on schedule to do in 2 weeks what I've done all previously back to the late 1990s. And that includes previous cuda stuff. |

Well, I've gone from 165000 units on Jan 11 to 280000 as of yesterday. Nothing happening today, of course. My one machine now is nearing on 1/2 of my entire credit gained in the last 11 years with all my other other machines. Incredible what GPU computing has been able to do to allow us to complete work at such a quick clip. The RAC certainly shows that. |

It makes me wonder what we need CPU's for. How come they just use the GPU for computers and leave out the CPU. |

With Nvidia entering the cpu market with arm chips at first, I see that possibly changing sometime in the distant future. Well if it doesn't flop anyways. Traveling through space at ~67,000mph! |

It makes me wonder what we need CPU's for. How come they just use the GPU for computers and leave out the CPU. We need them to do mundane tasks like driving the OS, and feeding our GPU's with work etc. The GPU is highly specialised to its functions. It can do some things extremely fast and others not so much. We need CPU's just as much as we need GPU's. What is truly exciting is that we are seeing integration of GPU's and CPU's, but for the time being they are just fun experiments to use for marketing, we are many years away from being independent of a discrete GPU. All we need now is for software developers to get onboard and optimise their tasks to run as efficiently as possible on CPU's and GPU's where it may be convenient. |

It makes me wonder what we need CPU's for. How come they just use the GPU for computers and leave out the CPU. Manuel is exactly right. GPGPUs are basically highly effective maths engines designed for doing specific types of workloads, primarily number-crunching intensive scientific work, which is why they're so good at distributed computing. Most of this type of work is highly parallelized loops for manipulating the same bit of data with different algorithms. If a GPGPU were to try to do a CPU's job of running the OS, launching apps, saving data, etc. it would actually be slower (especially considering that much of it cannot be parallelized due to the nature of the code) then the CPU. The code-branches alone would cause lots of execution stalls and probably mis-predicted code conditions, slowing things down even further. Think of GPGPUs as nothing more than a modern-day FPU from way back when. Even though the FPU was faster at specific types of maths than the CPU, it was no faster or even slower on the typical code used for common functions. The FPU was never replaced, only integrated into the CPU. The same is currently happening to the GPGPU. |

Well, it's official. It too 27 days with the new 6-core and GTX 460 to double all the work I've done since 1999-ish. It's fairly stable now, and I'm using the Lunatics stuff. The GPU is "always on", and doesn't really interfere with games. Don't know why. By the way, if there is an update to Lunatics, how does that work? Will my Boinc just stop processing because the code will not match the new required version? I presume Lunatics updates when the official Seti@Home does. |

What you have won't stop processing anyway but it is one of the burdens of running Lunatics builds that you are locked-in to the Boards ;) F. |

Like Fred said.. If you have already the x32f CUDA app of Lunatics Installer V0.37, you are fine.. You could let run (if you don't do it already ;-) 3 WUs/GPU simultaneously (GTX4xx-5xx 1024 MB RAM cards) for max RAC. |

Yep, I used the v0.37 master installer in December. I note confusion between the stats of Fred W and Sutaru Tsureku for Seti@Home Fred W: 8m, rank 869, 99.925% ST: 60m credits, rank 118, 99.798% Why is Fred's % higher even though his credits are lower? Maybe one is individual rank and the other team rank? > You could let run (if you don't do it already ;-) 3 WUs/GPU simultaneously (GTX4xx-5xx 1024 MB RAM cards) for max RAC. Has someone run tests to determine if it's worth it for 3 on a 1GB GTX 460? :) My own system, due to other uses, would not be a good test system since I don't "leave it alone". |
