The only thing you can do is fill your account data (user name, email address...) with random data (dummy entries).

Hello Gundolf,
thank you for your concern and your answer.
I can hardly believe, that one shouldn't be able to
drop off a community and to delete his traces.
There must be at least someone (database admin) who is able to
do this. Otherwise everyone should be warned to
join such a community.
Anyway, thanks again and if there is really no other
way, I will create a dead user.
The reason why accounts are never deleted is for scientific integrity of any crunched workunits. Even if the account has never crunched a single workunit, the statistics are still needed for user accounts created.
I'm not certain why this should be so alarming considering most places that have user data, the user's accounts never get destroyed even if a deletion is requested. In fact they are usually kept for record keeping purposes. This is the same for SETI@Home. Since any personally identifiable information can be removed from the account by the user, as you've discovered, I'm not certain why you'd have an issue with the lack of deleting accounts.
The bigger question on my mind is why you would want to delete your account and leave no trace of ever having been here. Did something terrible happen? Are you not proud to be part of the search that you want your data removed? Did someone anger you? It's hard to imagine much happened considering your account has only been around for a day.
